It finally happened, a 60% off sale and the wig checked all my boxes, I bought a human hair wig. In my opinion, because of price point, I highly recommend romancing the synthetics before buying human. They’re the most affordable way to learn about wigs and what works for you vs you for it. When I started, I worked for them. There’s so much to learn. Buying and wearing wigs is the only way you’ll find you’re very best look. Cap features, fit, style, color, texture, density, and comfort. Like clothing, you’ll find out what to do with your hair/scalp and best products for a secure fit. No matter how hard you try not to, you’re going to make mistakes. Rather it’s missing a return window to get a refund, a mishap altering, or other, our experiences are valuable lessons. The human hair price point may forever keep you away from them, but if you crave the movement and the way human looks in all types light etc, I think being a confident buyer is important. Human hair is a wig you’ll buy knowing it can be exactly what you want in every way. I knew exactly what I wanted from a wig. The best cut for my face, my preferred styling, although human can be set to any curl pattern. Human is more than realistic hair, you customize it exactly as you would bio hair. If you didn’t buy it from a salon, you book an appointment with the stylist. Like bio hair you tell the stylist the length you want and if you don’t know layers vs none, bring a picture of the hairstyle you have in mind. Just like bio hair, if you want a customthat too. You buy the hair a little longer than the length you will wear it so the stylist has wiggle room styling it. Always check with the mfg which units are best if you want to make color changes.

I've bought 5 human hair wigs the past month- key take away- EVERY piece will have a different personality - its quite polarizing and fascinating. ALSO - get it WET to see its true personality. The very best human hair wigs are the brunettes- something ultra thick and durable about brunette hair - must be the melanin? Red hair is coarse like a horse wild and definitely takes some getting accustomed to - blonde hair even natural is more delicate and light. I've returned 2 wigs and kept 5 due to these strange occurrences the breakoffs break my heart because then the edge on the wig becomes damaged and springy. The brand I shop from has no restocking fee- what a SHADY fee- wigs are personal - there should be no fee to experiment with them if you are showing you are a committed buyer looking for the right wig.
@heywigsister

I think the main reason why brunettes are different from the reds and the blondes is the processing. The vast majority of hair that has been sold or donated for wigs is dark brown hair. To get that hair to a blonde or a red, it has to be stripped of all color and then colored to those colors. Brunette hair goes through much less processing, which keeps it healthier. I would imagine that if you could find a wig in those colors that started as those colors, you would find them to be the same a brunette. I've also been told that reds and blondes don't last as long as brunettes, which supports my processing theory.

I agree. I purchased a brunette HH Jon Renau wig about 4-5 yrs ago and it is still wearable. I even bleached the front. I have two of the same wig in blond and they lasted 3 washings, about 6 months. So happy I purchased them on sale. What brand do you recommend?

I decided to go with Follea after years of trying to make sub-par mass produced for “Average” wigs work. Follea have caps that fit my very small head, and finer European hair that is not coarse or frizzy. They also have shorter pieces, even a 5 inch Pixie (I love short hair!). Yes, cost is a huge factor, and these wigs are expensive. But I could have had more than a few of them with all the money I’ve wasted on cheap wigs that don’t fit, and don’t last. I can’t wait to get my first Follea wig. Their consultation process is really nice, too.

I feel the same way, but haven't bitten the bullet yet. I'm retired and just can't see spending that much on a wig to wear to the doctors or sitting around at home.

The issue that I have with these wig shops is that they're buying from the same Chinese factories that will sell directly to individuals and then jacking up the price by 40%. I got a sheitel from a store in Brooklyn about three years ago for around $900. I wanted to refresh, so I looked at her site and it's now nearly $2000. I found a Chinese vendor who works with the general public and had them make a new wig with the same specifications/ color/ hair quality/ length (actually a little longer) for less than the first wig. And the hair quality is beautiful. Yes, I'm fortunate in that I can wear natural dark brown European hair, so I have a lot of options, but these shops charging this kind of money for wigs are taking advantage of people who don't know better and are, for the most part, in a shitty situation because of cancer or fucking alopecia. Shameful.

Thank you so much. You're information is priceless. I have human hair curly wigs from a beauty supply sop near me and from Amazon. They were all more on the budget friendly types because I am new to wigs(less than a year). I really like them but the customization of some of the more expensive wigs really in interest me but I'm afraid to make the plunge without trying the more budget friendly ones just for style and length I happen to live not far from a Milano wig shop andI am so pleased to hear your reviews of them. I so appreciate your videos. You include so much good information.

Watching this for 1st time, great video for beginners, ugh when you said Follea, David Alains wigs, how I wish I had $7499. for the long gripper lite, Ive eyed it since 2020 when I switched to human, in 2020 it was 4200, oooph. I have a gripper dupe caps as you probably know, Indian hair tho. Good place also Denise is superhairpieces and besthairsystems for stock systems, but not custom colored, shipped overnight tho, and will do consults and maybe by now customizations. I bought that Emmahairpeice you had shown, with the silicone eartabs, the 10 inch to try, for summer, I can add silicone to the nape if needed, but I always use adhesive on the front anyway. Anyway, great video to help others.

You are wonderful and we are blessed to have you. Thank you for the details and content❤. Once I went to human hair from the sheitel boutique like Fortune, I didnt go back really. Namely it feels better against my skin and I dont have to worry about tangling and too much shedding. Its been over 7 years and the 3 i have, held up well...but the cap gets stretched out and hair gets a little brassy. Im fairly gentle with wigs but not perfect. On a whim I went back to synthetic John Reneau recently...while I love that I dont have to style it, the plastic feel just makes me feel hot now even though it is lace.
@heywigsister
@heywigsister Жыл бұрын
Thank you!! I have heard often that the caps tend to give out before the hair on good quality human hair wigs... and turning brassy is one of the drawbacks. As long as textile dye isn't used they can be toned or recolored but that is an extra expense unless you have the skills to do it yourself (then it is just the cost of the product). That is something I'd like to learn how to do. Hugs!

Great video as always Denise! I have a question. Is it normal for human hair wigs to tangle a lot at the nape. I bought my first HH and it is tangling and clumping really bad and it’s only 6 mo old. It’s been doing it for a while now. I am not sure if I should buy the same one since it’s affordable and replace more often or keep looking.

Hi there!! I’m curious about maintaining the color on the human hair wigs. When I used to color my own hair, color fades over a few months and a visit back to the salon is certain. How does that work with these human hair pieces? Of course there is no new growth, but color and the curl wigs……please let me/us know what maintenance there will be. Thank you bunches!!🌺🐝🌺🐝🌺

Is it Virgin (original color) or processed hair? The color will get brassy over time but be sure to use a color safe shampoo
@heywigsister
@heywigsister Жыл бұрын
The color on human hair wigs will also fade and turn brassy over time... protecting them from the sun can help. I've heard that some use textile dye instead of regular hair dye to try to minimize that, but the problem with textile dye is that it can't be re-dyed so that is a drawback.

Good video!! I have been wearing HH for over ten years and your touched on all the important points. I will say that I am a huge fan of Milano wigs. I have MANY of them. My favorite are the Euro HH wigs with silk top- the hair is like butter and will last five plus years! The processed pieces such as Victoria are also nice. You are right about Stacked wigs. I can't get one- I can get the wig in my cart but someone purchases it before i can pay.

I am looking at doing a review of a full Milano wig, and I love my hat wig and headband wig from them. I'm just trying to decide which one to get, Victoria is top on my list. I just get so many questions about their full wigs, but can't really speak to them, so would like to get some experience. I just had a wig sister reach out to me on Instagram. She just went to one of their showrooms and had the best experience and ended up buying two wigs.

@@heywigsister I love my Milano wigs and would love to visit one of the showrooms. There is a new one in Florida and I live about 4 hours away. I may take a trip. Wish I had a wig sister to go with me. For the processed hair, I have Victoria, Nicole, and two ponies. They are all over three years old and I have not bought anything more recent. I also have several of the Euro silk top wigs, which have no lace fronts. The hair quality and texture is beyond amazing and the wigs have lasted many years. I bought all my Euro Milano wigs preloved but two were brand new. All of them are in excellent condition. Some are over 5 years old. I have one that is over ten years old- the cap is starting to stretch but the hair is still beautiful. I do not have a Milano lace top wig- the divine and secret wigs. I also do not have but want a wavy Victoria or Princess wig. I have almost bought them but never pulled the trigger for some reason. I think I will the next time there is a sale. If you want to have a chat, i can send you a message with my cell phone number.

Hi Denise, I just came across your channel today. I Hava frontal fibrosing alopecia. I am not new to wig language as I have been looking at them and listening to other wig wearers for awhile. I need a wig but I want a real natural hairline looking one. My hair at my temples and above my ears an inch is gone. My forehead hairline has receded a little back. My hair overall is getting real thin. Hormones I figure. I know l like the caps that you put on and you don't have to glue down. I would glue down temple area if I had to. I just don't want to look like I am wearing a wig. Do you have any suggestions on the best places to get a glueless wig that has a natural hairline look? Maybe I'm asking too much from you. I apologize in advance. I just need guidance. Much thanks!
