You really hammered the Dorian , Mixolydian relationship in my head. Great explanations and examples. You couldn't have made it any clearer.

First off, love your channel man! Great tutorials on some classics! Something i noticed is when your playing that staccato groove you're playing that root, but if you listen to the studio headhunters version that staccato is on the b7 to give it some tension then the root.. check it out! Thanks for tip with the Eb3rd (G), been incorporating that with my noodling now! Sounds great!

Fun Fact(you may already know): On the Head Hunters album Herbie specifically chose to not have guitars and instead played those parts on a clavinet. I always thought that was really cool and opened up a lot of space. Not that I don't love it on guitar but Herbie is that good! Also totally caught the bending notes in the solo you started to play, kinda mimicking Herbie's solo? Man he'd bend those notes on the keyboards taking you on a serious enharmonic, sonically beautiful journey! Been listening to that album on vinyl since I was a little kid...love it!!! Great job man!!!

Your breakdown sounds incorrect. The part you play is (starting on the Db after the bend/release @ 6:43) Db-Eb-Db-Bb-*Ab*-Db 1/4 bend - Bb. That Ab should be Eb. If you listen to the recording at 1/2 speed it sounds to me like an Eb. Also, your rhythm and notes for that guitar in the background is wrong (your video at 5:04, 0:31 in the original song). That's one of the iconic flavors of the song. Listen to the rhythm very closely, it's distinct and not just straight 16th. Eb |Db Bb |Db Db Db| Db Db Bb| Bb Bb| Db Db Db |Db Db Db| Bb Bb |Eb (| = beat with four parts, space are rests).
