It's understandable that you wouldn't like the video because you wore your feelings of the ship on your sleeve, when you're supposed to be advertising it to the community, but I see no issue with it because the ship does nothing for the game but encourage more backline BB behavior and provide WG with more money in their pockets. There was no need for this ship to be introduced into the game, just like there were other ships that have no place in the game because of what they do. You're still an awesome CC and your vids are always something to look forward to, especially because you're like a voice for the Community that isn't afraid to call WG out on their BS. We need the fiery potato on our side, if WG continues down this path that they're on right now. You're the best Flamu :)

This ship represents the mindset of most the top tier bbs where they need to snipe from across the map because they are afraid of dying and taking damage. GJ WG, you have created the glass cannon, for the glass cannon players.

Kinda glad it's not just me having a rough time with this one. It can do cool stuff if I gets a flank and my team actually screens me, but otherwise I'm just struggling with chip damage, and tbh the chip damage is surprisingly bad. Many of the AP pens don't seem to do full damage,even on fresh unsaturated ships they damage like overpens for about 1200. This can be a top tier bully, but it struggles with T7 BBs that push aggressively, and is nearly helpless against T9 and above ships. This isn't even a battlecruiser, it's a panzerschiff with a much bigger hitbox that can be seen from space. I'm amazed Champagne got out of testing, or that WG really thought going up 1" in shell diameter would require this much armor sacrifice on a ship with Richelieu's huge displacement (just reducing gun count from 8 to 6 probably saved weight by itself!). Guess it explains why they think Stalin's imaginary navy can jam two Yamatos worth of armor and weaponry into NC hull and not only stay afloat but also accelerate like a British CL - no concept of engineering.

Forty5 best cruiser ? non you get oneshot by almost everything and you are really sluggish. Then the battleship you are coated in 32mm everywhere so any DD/CL can farm you and kill you in no time, your guns aren't that amazing and your turrets get destroyed all the time (and tbh the kremlin is just the best BB in game if you don't think about slava). And yes the kleber is really strong but it's extremely hard to play and any angled CL will eat you alive if you aren't far enough to dodge the shells (also you have no way to disengage or heal yourself if you get rekted at the beginning of the game). So yes France has good ships but they aren't that amazing and apart from their DDs there is better alternatives (kremlin / thunderer / DM / Hinden)

It's a cruiser with cruiser level armour, so BB hunt with extreme caution. It's 6 guns have a 20s reload, so its not a effective DD hunter. Which leaves its effective prey other cruisers and CV's, but with typical German dispersion at all ranges except pointblank, even a broadside target that makes 0 effort to evade can go unpunished. Also it's stock manoeuvrability is average at best, rudder shift is kinda sluggish and it goes 29 knots flatout when other cruisers are capable of around 32 knots. The Graf Spee's 3 biggest upsides are, 1. It has a heal at T6. 2. 8km torpedo's unlike the typical German 6km. 3. If RNGesus blesses you, its AP is devastatingly effective.

The Champagne is my first T8 Premium BB. I was really attracted to its ballistics and speed. I was hoping I would enjoy it like I enjoy the Dunkerque and Le Terrible. But, from my games in it, its play style just doesn't help win games. If you play it at range, you aren't really contesting caps like most other BBs would tend to do in their normal gameplay. It is really weak against ships like the Bismark. Bismarks can hit it from a similar range pretty easily. But, most things nose-in can just take over caps. I mostly lose in it to getting capped out. Also, even though it has fast shell velocity, if the target isn't distracted by someone else, they can easily dodge a 20-25km salvo. I actually tend to win more in it if I push toward a cap and not play it at range. I usually end up nosing into a rock, like a Des Moines (to hide the poorly armored parts) and just pressuring enemies from pushing in. If you think about it, it's like a T8 Georgia. But, that 25mm nose and stern just make it not perform as well. I think some minor changes could make it better. 32mm nose/stern is probably the main thing I would want. Or, one more set of guns. Or, maybe putting both guns on the front of the ship so the player doesn't have to show so much broadside to shoot both when you are getting targeted. Or, a faster reload. For me, it seems that I win more if I take responsibility for securing caps in battle. It shows in my winrates. Le Terrible: 64%, Scharnhorst: 68%, Dunkerque: 60%, Atlanta: 59%. These are all high bc I can (and do) pressure the enemy off caps when I play them. My Champagne currently has a 44% winrate with a similar number of games played. Supporting from a distance in a BB just doesn't seem to work well for me. It makes me put my trust into the rest of my team to take caps and hold them. I'll try changing my skills and modules around to be what you are using, however. Maybe that will help me some. But, in the end, I feel I perhaps would have been happier buying a Mass, Bismark, Lenin, or something similar.

I get the feeling Wargaming has noticed all the back-row battleship players and rather than trying to encourage more aggressive play, they decided to create a product to appeal to those players. So their design philosophy probably goes something like this; "Why go to the trouble of making the game better when we can sell profitable crap with less time and effort (a lower cost) for us. It's a win-win. The potatoes get something that suites their play style and we make more money."

It doesnt get more accurate at range. Instead the dispersion doesnt really increase with range. Basically the dispersion at 20km is not much worse than at 5km.

The play style of this ship is one that I find on most random teams now a days. I have had teams where the battleship players will just strait up run way from the fight, regardless of what battleship they are in. This is the ship for them.

Joe Dim 32 mm across the whole hull is not a good armor when you’re at Tier 9 and 10. HE spam go burnnnnn. And it’s weak if it brawls. You shoot under the turret when given broadside, it’s pretty much free citadel estate from Richeliu to Repu.

Fought a Champagne when it was first released in my Roma and it tried to brawl; he ran after he lost half his health. Fought one in my Odin today. The Champagne has a lot of weak secondaries so I guess he thought it was a brawler; didn't work out for him.

They were not the brightest minds in Wows, as I see. Even if it was a ship with decent secondaries, one shouldn't intentionally brawl against a ship like Odin which have excellent secondaries, or Roma, which is one of the most dangerous brawlers in the game if used correctly - even if isn't her primarily role.

I like it, but I also tend to play it too aggressively and die. That said... if you can hold your HP until the endgame when everything is a bit broken you can close in, start doing real damage from the flanks thanks to speed boost and use your HE to burn down BBs that are foolish enough to go nose in. I find it fun, but I've always loved the "rogue" archetype.

Mountbatten is not a good player. I'd take his opinions with the grain of salt. You know, I've seen ppl dev striking other bbs with Gneisenau at 17 km. Exception to the rule.

Most secondaries in this thing are 100mm guns, which means they can't even pen destroyer plating at tier VIII if you don't use IFHE (which is NOT recommended since the rework) Gascogne has roughly the same secondary power as her, and it's already sub-par even if she has infinitely better armor and health so yeah, speking secondaries on champagne is the dumbest thing ever. Getting hits doesn't mean you're dealing damage.

I loved playing World of Warships, the models and graphics are amazing. You got to sail historic ships. Now though it seems more like work than fun. Ships that are designed to not be fun or balanced and teams that want to pay to sail around perfectly painted unscratched ships, not at all interested in the game or objectives. I have stopped giving wargaming money because their games feel more like work and less like fun. TBH, I started by having some decent success with it by basically forgetting that it's supposed to be a battleship, and pretending it's a large cruiser like the Sigfried. I don't have the Slava, since I'm not a tester, but the Champagne guns' shells are actually slightly faster than the Kremlin railguns. They actually take less time to target than the Venezia 1000m/s guns. It only seems like it takes some time to get there because the targets are like 20km away half the time.

That dispersion being worse at 13km than 20km is just stupid. If they made it more-or-less the same fine but it's like you're actually punished for fighting at typical engagement ranges. Imagine a cruiser sneaks up to 11km... your shells might arc 90 degrees and hit your own house. Sgt.Bilko would be proud.

Everything you said about this ship is spot on except you did miss what I have come to find is the worst part of this ship being all of your teammates barking at you over chat to get into the fight. They see you sitting out the back and they think you are doing nothing. I had a game where I top scored with most hit points and kills for planes and ships and I was still getting barked at for not contributing. I have found you can close in with it but you need to be VERY selective about when and where. I am still undecided with it, some times I am enjoying it and other times I just hate it and go back to the North Carolina. CV's are already working out that the Champagne is an easy hit, I get hammered like I was n a DD.

Because - not to fault you personally - you ARE contributing nothing. It's the same problem as with Conquerors. You're not contesting caps. You're not absorbing damage. You're not spotting. You're not holding back a push. You're just dealing damage from a distance. And that doesn't contribute to the victory. Everything you're doing depends ENTIRELY on your team doing the heavy lifting. Merely dealing damage is not a significant contribution at all. This isn't your fault as a player - it's that the ship is designed perfectly to be a completely useless one. It can't accomplish anything of value, so it's relegated to merely stat padding.

one thing you forget to mention is the ripple effect the ship impose on the game ... we are already seeing such with player insisting to be back lane camper in so many Random game, but this is the ship forcing the player to play back lane camper, and any team with a back lane camper, it means its one less ship at the front line , its one less BB to TANK the group, and one less powerful guns at the front and thus it further discourage the team to formation and push and basically pull everyone back ( or rather force them to as they now are shorthanded ) And that alone is the core reason why we see the games developed to the current meta that s many hate ..

fought against one yesterday with my vladi. the guy was a complete idiot that tried to bow tank me at about 7km range, so it was just a stand off with us trading shots. so, of course, I won because of overmatch and the guy had the gall to call me "lucky". there's no luck in overmatching a sitting duck. Honestly, I'm not sure this really is bad for the game. This kind of backline sniper BB players have always existed, and they haven't been deterred by the inefficiency of that playstyle. If they start sailing Champagnes, their teammates can know what to expect from them and plan accordingly, rather than getting frustrated upon finding out mid-game after having already committed to a particular course of action. Also, if they're going to do backline sniping anyway, at least the Champagne lets them do it and contribute more to their team than they'd do in any other ship.

The dispersion and penetration are SOOOOO OP and off-the-charts. But because it's SOOOOO BAD that even WG never bothered to nerf it. If Soviets are called "paper ship", this one is "paper thin" literally.

It is the BB all the whales that snipe in Tirpitz always wanted, to use all your gun range. The concept is perfect for those BB mains and thus a brilliant decision in terms of making a Ship to suit the players that blow the most money on the game... Anyone that actually knows how to play would want to stay far away from this ship.

So what I'm looking at is from a Counter-Strike prespective: *GLASS CANNON AWP* because when you get shot at by little cruiser boats, you're gonna get hurt. You get shot at by heavy cruisers like the Italians, you're gonna get hurt bad. You get shot at by the super cruisers? Oh you're gonna get really hurt. Getting shot at by a proper battleship? You're kinda fucked. _If Yamato, Kremlin, Republique, Conqueror, Musashi, pretty much all the tier 10 ships looks at you, you're gonna have a very bad day._ *If Yakashima even looks at your direction, you're gonna take damage in the next game you load up!* Seriously, if WarGaming wants to make this ship work, they can just break the omen like they have so many times, give it a sigma value that overtakes the Stalingrad, give it a fairly big buff to the armor penetration angles and remove the HE. From there, you'll have a true glass cannon that can't take hits but can deliver some seriously precise hits from across the map. If danger is too much, it can just SPOOD away from it, relocate and snipe from another position. Its stale gameplay though considering its a "Battleship" and I'm with the superiority complex of plebians that think most BBs need to get STUCK IN and sniping in a battleship really doesn't make sense to me unless its the IJN ships and the Republique.
