The first time I saw one of these was 1972 or so, and I couldn't believe it! Up until then, I just had my grand dad's double headed axe. It was like splitting the atom technology to me! I'm easily impressed I guess 😆

They are great machines and definitely save the back. Thanks for the comment Jeff.

Every Summer break my Dad would make me split firewood for the year. He gave me a smaller sledge hammer and a wedge. As I got older he let me use a splitting maul. I enjoyed it though. Great video with lots of information.

Good video. I have the 27 ton champion. First splitter I have ever owned. Great machine man. I bought the champion, because it had the log catcher on both sides. Great investment.

Dude thanks for that last bit about it being a little too heavy move by hand. I was trying to decide on this or the 27 ton. It is 100 lbs lighter and from another review I watched on that model they mention being able to move it by hand.

It's honestly a pain in the butt to move on uneven terrain, especially in the woods

He is right but it has no air filter but a piece of foam. The HY oil gets hot also. Other than that mine worked great , Last year I split about 12 face cord of oak never had a problem. This year I'll split about the same. I welded up a bigger tray to protect things from falling wood and to help hold wood while splitting. I also installed a crank down front wheel to help move it around the barn. I never keep it out in the weather. see my videos on the log splitter mods , it may help you.

This still working well? Thinking of getting one
@HawkMeyerOutdoorsКүн бұрын
@@richardromwro2871 it's still putting in the work! I just changed the oil and new spark plug about two weeks ago and it's running like a top. The only thing that really broke was the pull start but that was an easy fix (I have the video posted). Thanks for watching!

Does you ram get hot to the touch? Trying to figure out if my 34 ton has a problem.
@HawkMeyerOutdoors Жыл бұрын
The hydraulic fluid gets hot and that warms up the cylinder.

I had mine almost 3 years, it does great, but does get the cylinder hot to the touch, I wouldn’t worry

I had 3 red oaks dropped in my yard and my first (small) splitting maul just bounced off the rounds. A larger maul worked better on the 14-16 inch rounds, but I have a bunch of 18-30 inch rounds and smaller, twisted, branches to deal with and I'm getting tired of hand splitting.

Sorry about your troubles. This machine has definitely streamlined the wood cutting.
