I have the same unit. I did my entire break in using propane. I have always used royal purple in my truck and my engine looks like brand new inside. So I decided to use it in my new generator too... But I couldn’t find break in oil so I broke mine in with mineral oil for the first 10 Hours or so with varying amounts of load. I changed out the mineral oil 3 times, each time adding a bit of Royal Purple engine oil. After I saw no more metal flecks, I changed it out for straight royal purple. I had planned on running propane only because of the smell. I didn’t use any gasoline until around 500 hours when I ran out of propane and had to use gasoline. I was shocked how much more stuff I could run on gasoline! I run my RV air conditioning no problem.

I think gasoline generates about 300 watts more. Thanks for sharing and watching.

I like your video but I was wondering. Where can a person get parts for the champion? And accessories😊😊😊

It does come with a good warranty and right off the bat I got a replacement front cover because it was cracked. Any small engine repair show will work on them so the parts are available. There are some accessories on Amazon such as covers. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.

Which spark plug did you change to? Also, the link for the hour meter actually goes to the Royal purple. Thanks.

I have not yet changed the spark plug but I'm going with the NGK 3785 BPR7ES SOLID Standard Spark Plug. I fixed the hour meter link so thanks for finding that and thanks for watching.

@@LandingZoneHome I just ordered those 3785 NGK's yesterday. My generator will be here tomorrow or Monday. I plan to run the break in with the stock plug and then swap over to the NGK. As for the meter, I ended up getting another similar one, but they seem to all be about the same. Thanks to your video I am also going to use the Royal Purple for the break in, but for normal use I am going to switch over to Mobil1 with Archoil added in for less wear. Honestly, had I watched your video before ordering the Archoil I probably would have just went with Royal Purple 10W-30 for normal use, but I had already ordered the Archoil... Anywho, thanks for your videos. I can't wait to get my unit so I can break it in and start using it! Hope you're staying safe in these weird and crazy times, and thanks for the video. I enjoyed it!

Thank you for the video. Word of caution for installing the hour meter on top. Make you you do not drill into the gas tank like I did. Luckily I’m only going to be using LPG option so it’s not super problematic but still a bummer.

I'm considering purchasing this model for my travel trailer and maybe as a small backup generator for use in the house during power outages. Any further thoughts about it after having it a few months? How did you make out with the replacement parts. Thanks very much for the video. I found it very informative.

I still like it very much, taking it boon-docking soon so that will be a real test and quite a few hours on the meter. If you watched the parts replacement video all that went very well. I have figured out how to run it on my RV LP tanks so if interested look for my video and stay tuned I"ll be doing a video on the boon-docking soon. Thanks for watching.

Hello, great video, i just purchased a Champion 9375 starting watts/ 7500 running. We live in Nova Scotia and its main use will be for the harsh winters with lengthy power outages. Have few question, like me I'm using the Royal Purple break in oil and wil run it for 5hrs. The spark plug you mentioned about changing it over to a better one what would that be please? Myself i can't get mine out with regular sockets because of space had to order small engine spark plug wrench. Also im using a small amount of Lucas conditioner down spark plug to lube cylinder before pulling it over 10 times. I will be using Amsoil Signature series 5W/30 after break in. Yours seems to be doing the job which you wanted running your AC units. Cheers

The replacement NGK Iridium BPR6EIX or Champion RN9YC. Also just received email from Champion tech and using synthetic 5 or 10 W30 works perfectly fine for break in. Just a heads up to any viewers and yourself

I wonder how accurate that little, battery operated hour meter is? It would be interesting to time it. I believe I will be using an electro-mechanical hour meter since it doesn't use a battery which will eventually lose it's charge. It connects directly to the generators 110 current and is considerably sturdier.
@LandingZoneHome4 жыл бұрын
What little testing I have done is close, and these timers do have an internal battery. The battery can NOT be changed so when it goes (5-7 years) you must replace the timer. Thanks for watching.

I bought same royal purple engine break in but in champion user manual it says don’t break in with synthetic.
@LandingZoneHome4 жыл бұрын
Here is a quote from the product description, Royal Purple combines highly refined mineral oil, preferred for engine break-in, with advanced additives containing high levels of zinc and phosphorus to optimize protection in flat-tappet and roller engines." So it is not a synthetic. It will be safe. Thanks for watching Brett.

Again thank you for a very informative and detailed video I'm getting my list together to order all the products you've used in your video, from Amazon, to start your break-in steps. Recently I inquired on Amazon about using Royal Purple, as you mentioned in your video, someone responded that if I used Royal Purple on my new Champion Duel fuel inverter generator, model #100264, "because Royal Purple adds additives for DPF and catalytic converter that might damage the exhaust system" In your experience in all the years you have used Royal Purple have you had any problem like this.? Thank you again for a wonderful video
@LandingZoneHome4 жыл бұрын
Definitely not true. Nothing is added for DPF or catalytic converters. the additives actually bond the oil molecules to the metal surfaces to ensure easier starts and less friction. I run RP in all my vehicle.
@yellen574 жыл бұрын
@@LandingZoneHome Thank you sooooo much!!!! One more question, I live in Clearwater Florida and it is very HOT, do you recommend That I use RP 5w-30
@LandingZoneHome4 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't use the 5w since it is very thin and mostly for cooler climates. I use 15w40 or you could go with the 10w30. I'm a overkill kinda person so I use the RP synthetic 15w40 in all my small engines.
