Good news for who owned this dualfuel 4375 watt. Lets me tell you i just findout today i can run Nature Gas too without any modification. I just hook up 1/2 in flexible gas line from house gas meter with a 1/2 in shut off valve connected to generator, half chook then full run. Run like a champ.

I bought the Champion open frame 4250w dual fuel inverter after the big freeze Feb ‘21 here in Texas (-2° that year). Used it once after that until this week when temps dipped to 9°. Wasn’t going to get caught w/o some power again. We have a 200gal propane tank (country life) for our grill and indoor fireplace. I put the generator on the back porch, hook it into the gas stub out and it fired right up. Didn’t need it but glad we have an option. Great video.

If you're thinking about this generator definitely go and get it. I also got mine from sams club and had it for about 2 years. I only run mine on propane. I didn't want to deal with putting stabil or messing with bad fuel. I use supertech 10w30 full synthetic, and never had an issue with it. It just works. I live currently in Texas, never had a problem with it from cold temps (in the 10s) to high temps (in the 100s). I primarily used mine to run the air conditioning, the fridge and my tv. Never skipped a beat.

What a great review, i love that you waited until after some real-world usage to do one. 99% of reviews are just an unboxing video that isn't nearly as helpful. The fact it started with a single pull after sitting all that time in the elements is great. Thinking about mounting this on my trailer hitch so something that can withstand being in the elements is a must.

Great to know propane bypasses the carb, I suspected might be the story. I’m getting a Champ 4500 dual fuel, I think I might never put petrol in that tank. 20+ years monkeying around with an old gen, car gas and also was THD noisy sine wave “dirty” power as well. It’s a strange thing for backup. Almost never used, just exercised, but offers peace of mind to just have.
@stubblejumper31252 жыл бұрын
The surging after you shut off the fuel is normal. The carbs on these things hold a lot of fuel so it takes a while to empty the float bowl. They will eventually stop on their own. Sometimes 2 or 3 pulls in a Canadian winter storm when trees down the lines, otherwise easy to start. Good video Brock, I agree that a review should be after using something for a while, not when unboxing it. Real world info is what's appreciated. Great video.

Just completed the break-in period and so far the unit is operating perfectly kzbin.infoUgkxOTeIs0vv4_9B5hsmnLsk9r930uDQLu_Y . I was amazed by just how quiet this little guy is. I kept having to walk down the driveway to the generator to make sure it was still running. In fact, the most annoying noise coming from the set-up is a high-pitched chirping coming from the pressure regulator on the propane line. I suppose it's possible my other propane-powered generator's pressure regulator is making the same noise, but the generator itself is so loud I've never noticed it. Build quality so far is excellent. My only nit is the service panel is a little tricky to remove. I feel like I might break off one of the plastic tabs when bending it back. I probably just need to work out the technique, so will not hold it against Champion.Next week I intend to fully load the unit to charge a large battery pack and will update this review if there's any problem (3000W continuous load vs a rated 3100W capacity while using propane). Absent any trouble there, I'm 100% pleased with this purchase.

to me it makes a lot of sense to have a dual fuel generator. the biggest problem with small engines is letting them sit with old fuel. a year or more the gas will go bad and no start. having a propane set up ready to go is great. cheers.
@Skunked682 жыл бұрын
Thanks Rockhill for more of a reliability report !! Most excellent ! 4500W dual fuel, I was tempted for bigger brand name of Westinghouse, and that one is better noise insulated, but can only be had with remote start which means automatic choke. And many of Westinghouse customers complained of auto-choke troubles. This is cold country to boot, I’m happy with master control of manual choke. But may not need it at all if I only use propane. 20+ years, I’m weary of messing with stabil and running carb dry, etc. for car gas in an ancient generator. Look forward also to clean inverter power for a modern furnace PCB and computer electronic stuff (altho, side note, I just did manage to drop cell phone in clear toilet bowl for brief plunge. Turned it off. Dried it off and placed it in sealed bag of uncooked rice over night to suck the moisture right out of it. If that trick is new to anyone here, it works great). I’m definitely ordering the Champion dual fuel DC inverter, 27 amp continuous propane.. Always had an old generator for country life, peace of mind for retirement town life, as well. Can skip 220v biggie unit. Just furnace, fridge, freezer, sump, garage door opener, some LED lights and tv. If all at once too much, then I’ll rotate what’s on. Sump and furnace the most important. Modern soft start DC fan furnace takes less than 900W, seems impressive. Thanks again man. One pull was impressive after setting so long.

Another thing about gas generators. Stop exercising your gas generator every month. Its not necessary. It works. Test it in the fall only to make sure your ready for hurricanes and snow storms. Heres how you manage your gasoline. Don’t keep the tank full. It doesn’t last forever. Keep fresh gas in containers. If it gets too old, dump it into your car and get fresh gas. Use k100 fuel stabilizer. You will get two years out of it. Then empty the tank and start over. When you run the generator, have k100 in the tank. Do not use the motor switch to shut the motor off when your done using your generator. Use the fuel valve to shut off the motor. This empties the remaining fuel from the carb. Leave the motor in that condition until the next time you need it. If the gas in the tank gets too old. Refill with fresh gas. This way there will never be old gas in your fuel system. There will never be a problem with this method.

I bought a Champion #100592 7850 watt dual fuel generator at HD a couple of years ago and set it up with dual propane auto-switchover. I only just ran it on gasoline for the first time after 8 hours of run time and I keep the tank and carb empty. I keep three 20lb bottles of propane so I can take an empty to be refilled while still running on two. I also keep two five gallon containers of gasoline to which I add Stabil, keep for a year, then dump into the cars and replace. Installed a six circuit transfer switch beside my breaker panel which powers everything in the house except washer, dryer, oven/range, 20amp bath outlets and central AC. Of course since I did all of this, we haven't really had any power outages that lasted more than about an hour, but we're prepared. Just ordered a natural gas conversion kit.

I’ve had my duel fuel for 4 years! Owners Manuel says full horse power is at sea level! I’m at 4200ft, and it has no power on lpg! It’ll run fine, until you plug something in. Then it bogs down and dies! On 85 octane, it’ll runeverything until I get to the load limit of 3500 running watts! At elevations above 5000ft, you have to run premium gas! Even at that, it’ll only run my AC, and the coffee pot! Never ordered the jet kit for high elevations. Not planning on going that high anymore, so not needed! I think owners manual says, that HP is reduced by 7 percent per every 1000ft in elevation you go! 7 hp isn’t much, but it’s only around 5hp at 4200ft! Stabil, and all fuel treatments, have a shelf life! I save my money and run it out of gas, or drain all fuel! Something else I learned. Is after a generator sits for a few months, they demagnetize! You won’t get any power generated! Simple fix! Get a 120 volt plug, cut the insulation on the 2 wires. Plug the plug into one of the 120 v outlets, and quickly jump the 2 wires together! Instant power!

I think we need to rewire our brains a little. I just bought 3 propane generators, two ALP propane generators and ordered a Champion 3500 dual fuel today. The reason is that in my state and probably many, everytime you turn on a motor you are charged for 15 minutes from the electric company. So using a hand saw for 30 seconds = 15 minutes charge. So running tools on and off, electric heater set to thermostat, etc, costs a fortune. So I'm adjusting to propane generators, solar generators for small wattage, rechargeable batteries. That is my lobbyist vs their lobbyist at work now. I can have more government control and favors by just shutting them down.

People falling into the dual fuel scam. So you just toss the 20 lb tank into your trunk and get it refilled right? And the fuel never goes bad right? So convenient right? Wrong. These videos always show the demonstration using the old 20 lb gas grill tank. News flash, your typical generator will not get enough fuel from that small tank. It will run seemingly normal until you start turning on equipment in your house. The generator motor throttle opens up and theres not enough fuel capacity from that small tank and the motor slows right down. The next thing is your motor head will over heat and your well on your way to burning out your engine. The size tank you would need to properly run that engine will be too big to toss in your trunk for a refill. Sorry scammers. Your exposed.

Prove it with science, the only time tank size will make any difference is in extremely cold weather. At -44 degrees Fahrenheit propane turns from gas to liquid. I have never had any issues with any of my generators using propane. If you had a 20kw generator hooked up to a 20lb propane tank, yes it would cause an issue. But portable generators under 8kw , 20lb tanks work fine. Yes propane has less running watts than gas, but that is clearly stated on the generator. It runs cooler, and puts out less Co2, plus will keep for years.

I have this same generator and it started after 2 years and ran my fridge and wall unit a/c when Milton hit. worked just fine and only used propane. I love this generator so if you have the chance to pick one up, go for it.

Not a good idea (at all -even for a short run) to run a gas powered machine inside a building.
