You're testing a helmet on an adventure bike with a wind screen that was made to stay stable and comfortable when coming out of tuck at 200mph in a canted forward position. Doesn't make much sense to me but thanks for the review

Though it is true the X-Lite can be expected to offer stronger ventilation performance in an agressive sport position (which it is designed for), the reason we use our test bike is to keep as many variables as possible controlled. @@Championhelmets I did it very informative, but i would like to have seen it on an actuall sportsbike because of the exhaust is much louder. Also i have a SENA i had to dig around to find if it would accommodate it. I guess i will find that out soon. Very good videos.

Nolan and X-Lite are owned by the same parent company. As a result, the X-803 RS helmet has wholly been transferred to X-Lite (as it is a more premium helmet) while the regular X-803 Ultra Carbon is now sold under the X-Lite brand. Nonetheless, the X-803 Ultra Carbon from Nolan will be the same as that from X-Lite. Thanks for the question! What are your thoughts on the X-803 RS helmet?

I found that my X-803 is a fair amount tighter in the same size (M) as all my other helmets. My head is 58.5cm though, so right inbetween everyone's Medium and Large sizing. So it's kind of a crapshoot for me each time I buy a helmet.

same, I have about the same head measurement as you and it is snug, but the large was just too big. I think it'll conform to my head a little after some wear though.

Hi, i have shoei x14 and bought this xlite x803rs for a week, i think the vents work better than shoei x14, esspecialy with sportbike riding position, maybe the test should be on a sportbike bcs its a racetrack helmet?

It would definitely be best if we could test these helmets out on a sport bike, since that's what their ventilation and aerodynamics have been designed for. If you think about buying this helmet let me give you my opinion: I have used it for 2 months and compared to my previous helmet ICON Airmada, it's very comfortable and much lighter. however, if you do a lot of highway riding this helmet is not for you because the wind noise is crazy and you must wear earplugs with it which is annoying.

How is the sizing on those. I wear agv pista and rx7v size small 55-56 . Are they true in size and get me a small? As where i come from we dont have any shop for nolan available to try one. Thank you

Though fit is always hard to say, since it is particular to each person, the X-803 RS is intermediate oval and is true to size. Nonetheless, it would be best to measure once more and compare the measurement with X-Lite's size chart for the helmet as 55 and 56 are different sizes. Thanks for the question! As far as the GT Air 2 vs the X-803 RS, the GT Air 2 will be much quieter. When we tested the Shoei helmet out on the road, it came in with a result of about 97 dB while the X-Lite came out with 105 dB. Hey there! While the X-803 RS Ultra Carbon isn't built to integrate with a specific system, it should still be possible. One thing to be aware of though is that there are no speaker pockets in the helmet so it may be a tight fit

Thanks for the question! While both helmets score 4 stars overall, they do perform a bit differently across our scoring. The X-Lite mainly improves over the Shark with 5 stars for material rather than 4, and 4 stars for the visor instead of 3.5. In comparison, the Shark did better for ventilation with 4 stars and it also did better for aerodynamics with 5 stars. For value for money though, the X-Lite still beat the Shark with 29 Euros per star compared to 35

Alright so I'm confused, there is the 803 and the 803 RS... is the 803RS Ultra Carbon available in the US now with the DOT sticker?

Currently the X-803 RS is only ECE 22.05 certified, so it doesn't yet have a DOT sticker. In contrast, the normal X-803 does have the DOT. Besides the stickers, the main difference between the two is the new detachable spoiler and the adjustable liner. What do you think of the X-Lite?

Does the helmet come with a smoked spoiler? On your website for the x803 ultra carbon rs hot lap, the pictures show the spoiler to be a darker tint however on videos it appears as a clear spoiler.

With all the trouble you guys go through to measure temperatures and noise levels to make a good review, it makes me laugh when you test it on an upright bike with a giant windscreen.

We mainly test our helmets this way to keep the results comparable. We recognize that it's not ideal for testing out racing helmets, but it's still gives a good idea of how the different helmets perform for noise and ventilation. What do you think of X-803 RS Ultra Carbon?
