What a fantastic season finale. The title would be in good hands with each one of the 3 contenders, but how Antonio and Pascal performed today, it was totally deserved that the titles are with Pascal and Porsche. Fantastic.
@matthijsdeboer99322 ай бұрын
You mean to say that (in the best case) misjudging your braking point and causing a puncture that takes out one of your teammate's main opponents in the WDC, while simultaneously handing the WMC to your own manufacturer, is a good performance? As much as it was accidental, Antonio's poor judgment in this race unfortunately slightly tainted both titles.
@florianj64902 ай бұрын
@@matthijsdeboer9932this was Jaguars fault because they messed up the Attack Mode and team strategy. Otherwise, Cassidy wouldn't have been back there in the field at all. Even Cassidy himself knew who he had to blame for this misery on the radio. Not da Costa, but his team. The driver was more insightful than his fans, it seems to me.
@matthijsdeboer99322 ай бұрын
@@florianj6490 You have mistaken me for a Cassidy/Jaguar fan. No harm done. Your logic is odd though. Cassidy being in whatever position due to strategy does not lay the blame at him for being a complete victim of another driver's mistake though.
@florianj64902 ай бұрын
@@matthijsdeboer9932 That's correct. But Cassidy himself does not blame da Costa for the lost title, but blamed the team on the radio for it, as you hopefully noticed yourself in the race. However, Daniel Abt, himself a long-time, successful Formula E driver, has summed it up correctly. Cassidy can't shift the blame onto the team. As a racing driver, you have to be aware of your situation in the race. Cassidy must have seen that Evans didn't open up a gap to secure the lead. Then why does he take the Attack Mode? Viewed in isolation, Antonio da Costa is responsible for the retirement. Absolutely right. But the loss of the world championship is a result of a multitude of mistakes, both by Cassidy, Evans and the Jaguar Team. And this has been a recurring theme within the Jaguar team management for a long time. With Sam Bird and Mitch Evans, the team management also failed to effectively control the team strategy. Now, the team and driver who have become world champions are the ones who executed a flawless race and overall did a better job throughout the season.

What a finale! I was expecting it to be good with the 3 contenders all starting near the front but the way it all unfolded was stranger than fiction in a great way. Pascal was super sharp this weekend and I agree he's a deserving champion who has been underrated most of his career. I would've liked to see how Cassidy would've fared without the puncture. Is it harsh for me to say I'm glad Evans didn't pull it off? Cassidy really did play the team game all season and kept demonstrating he's got the most mental capacity of any FE driver to understand the races, whereas Mitch lacked some grace and that edge of strategy nous, despite being quick.

I think the team that has two challengers in a close fight with another lone driver for another team has a huge disadvantage because of how attack mode works. Unless you specifically say the leader gets preference, as you would in an F1 race with pit-stops for example, you’ll get this tactical mess; which will always play to the favour of the driver of the other team. And then you combine that with bad luck today for Nick and a missed attack mode for Evans, and we got what we got. But it’s about the whole season, and Pascal deserves it. Hope one of the Jag drivers get it next year though.

Two years in a row, Cassidy was left to basically fend for himself and lost a title because the team he was on didn't seem to realize they were fighting for a WDC. Also, Max Gunther's wing flying off like that was lucky enough to have a fence there. That exact scenario is why Race Control needs to be more aggressive with broken front wings. I think that's the closest we've been to having a disaster with a front wing.

He had such a big points advantage and simply everything went wrong for him from a certain point, and after such a magic qualy lap in Q2 here. Really dramatic what happened with him, I thought he fully deserved it. Wehrlein was nowhere for big part of the season, but did it when it mattered... London circuit is too narrow for Formula E cars in some places, Formula E should ditch street circuits and go to normal circuits. If Formula E should be takne more, it should do more to avoid close contacts on turns that make 2 cars going almost impossible, by racing to a wider race circuits, that is big minus for Formula E.
