@@rivitril5440 I would agree with you but there is a technique that you can combine with the inversion method which you can't with the regular, James Hoffman's french press guide suggests stirring crust after an amount of time so you can scoop out the foam which is caused by co2 escaping the grounds which imparts a negative sour flavour then I top up the mixture with a little more water as freshly ground coffee tends to produce a lot of foam. From there it doesn't really matter which way up the container is. If you want to try the method I'd suggest just waiting 1 minute before the stir and removal, then 8 minutes either way up, give it a lil swill and place it on your cup, wait a minute and gently press. I usually get some cleaning done during this process since it takes 10 minutes once you have ground coffee and a boiled kettle. Reason why you can't do this with non inversion is that without the vacuum that's created by having the top on water will be trickling through the filter.

@@kingkurtistheres flow control cap. IMO worth the price if you have extra money, esp if you work with boiling water

One thing I learned is to do this in the sink. Second point, use hot water to make sure that coffee grounds are not where the filter should lock in. Hammered my thumb on both of those.

34 C is cooler than what you'd use in a bathtub. The subtitles are wrong, but the method - with the correct temps - is great.

Bypass water is yummy. I find it slightly mimics my V60s tastes without inverting. The inverted method to me is more French press like which isn’t what I’m going for. Most real pour overs have bypass so bypass in your aeropress isn’t a big deal.

How is channeling possible? And whats the point of Bloom The ground is going to be fully soaked...
@himdailungpamei983
@himdailungpamei983 14 күн бұрын
Channeling can happen if too much pressure it applied when pressing down, the filter paper can't handle that pressure and will fold, creating an uneven bed. Blooming and not blooming yields very little different, but the stirring and swirling makes a notable different. James Hoffman explains these 2 concepts really well on his youtube channel called understanding aeropress episode 2

Set the temperature at 84 deg C or 34 deg C? The subtitles and videos mention different things
@zainabsiddiqi3444
@zainabsiddiqi3444 10 ай бұрын
My guess is 84 deg C! If it was 34, it would not be hot enough to brew coffee. Typically, the best brewing temperature for coffee is going to fall just under boiling. I normally go for around 90 deg C/ 200 deg F

Is this better with a medium roast? From YT at least, I hear that light roast you’ll want higher temp to get better extraction. Just curious what type of bean and roast would excel here

I just don’t like the idea of inverted first thing in the morning. I need a way to control flow so my “shot” doesn’t start pulling and I can “steep” without inverting. If I grind too fine it becomes too hard to push. Maybe this device isn’t for me.

Can be dangerous while half asleep haha. There is the Fellow Prismo and Aeropress Flow Control to allow you to steep without the inverted method.

Why not using two filters. They can be recycled so it's not even an extra cost. Two metal filters work well, too. Or stopping the flow by putting the plunger on top. Moreover, it keeps temperature, too.

Could be because of fine particles migrating to the bottom when agitating too much. This clogs filters in V60s.
