For Luna 25, the problem occurred when from circular lunar orbit of 100 KM, the lander was trying to enter pre-landing elliptical orbit of 18km - 100 km, which would have required high precision calculations ensuring exact de-boosting position and time, especially because the chosen pre-landing height of 18 KM was considered to be an extremely narrow bandwidth hence the requirement for precision during the de-boosting process.... its obvious excessive de-boosting time slowed down Luna 25 considerably, causing it to crash on the lunar surface however the reason for suspected error with precision calculations would require investigation by Roscosmos. In contrast ISRO have already carried out 5 elliptical earth orbit boosting maneuvers and another 5 elliptical lunar orbit de-boosting maneuvers on Chandrayaan 3 basis which Vikram lander would have reached a pre landing lunar elliptical orbit of 25KM - 134 KM !

During the soft-landing process, somewhere within a height range of 1.3 KM - 0.8 KM above the lunar surface, Vikram lander would have reached horizontal & vertical speeds of zero m/s causing the lander to hover for 12 secs after which it would descend vertically at 2.0 m/s until it reaches a height of 150 m above the lunar surface where it would hover for additional 22 secs , allowing LHDAC ( Lander Hazard Detection & Avoidance Camera) to scan the lunar surface below for any obstruction, impeding stable landing & carry out a Go-No Go test, if Go, Vikram Lander would descend at 2.0 m/s for a soft landing, if No Go, Vikram Lander would proceed to move in the horizontal direction at 0.5 m/s for another 150 m (max) for LHDAC to again scan the lunar surface below and allow Vikram Lander to descend vertically at 2.0 m/s for a soft landing.

South Pole of Moon, Soft Landing is not so easy, India choose exact location due to it was unexplored in this region and this region in night time temperature fall - 200 degrees Celsius, It will be source of Ice or water.
