Prof.for your information, ISRO responded to Right to Information Act query, that it has only 2% IIT and NIT products. This shows ordinary engineering college products have achieved this feat.IIT,NIT products mainly they go abroad or join private sector to earn more money.

Definition of scientist in ancient India was Rishis. Kanad rishi established the foundation of partical theory. Varah mihir founded theory of spherical astronomy, Aryabhatta founded theory of mathematical as well as spherical astronomy, Charak and Shushrut founded theory of biological and medical concepts including surgery etc. Please watch the video of ISRO chairman S Somnath when he opined recently in Bhopal University.

Let me tell you in a moment that our rocket is made by ourselves, its engine is made by us, its satellite is made in India, its rover is made in India, I smell burning in your way of understanding.Let me tell you that you are explaining in an allegorical manner and telling India in such a way that all this technology has been given by others, anyone can do it.Landed on Dakshini dhruv, we reached it first on Mars already in Attempt, the way you are telling that 4 countries have gone before this but you did not tell that India is the first country which landed on the south pole of the moon That's why we are celebrating, you are telling that it is a very small thing, it is not a big deal, you have not uprooted anything till date, whatever you have done, you have done it on the basis of China and we have done all our space missions ourselves.

Inka kul mila ke ye kahna tha ki Bharat ne koi badi top nahi maari. Agar inke yaha engineer aa jaye to 75 million dollar aa jaye to ye bhi kar denge. Japanese astroid se sample to le aye lekin vo bhi aaj tak moon landing nahi kar sake. Aur agar distance factor hata de to moon landing, mars landing se jyada kathin hai. Kyoki mars par land karne ke liye aap parachute use kar sakte hai, par moon par nahi. Moon par to apko controlled thrust se hi land karna hoga. Khair jaisi jiski soch😢

Where ignorance is bliss, wisdom is a liability. Where intolerance is fanned, reasoning is a liability. Where beggary is unabashed, self respect is a liability. Where false narratives are habitual, trust is a liability. Where religious extremism is piety science and technology is a liability. Finally, where desperation is palpable, isolation is a reality. I am an IITian myself and the most important thing that I understood is that to excel you need passion and self confidence, clarity and an unwavering focus.

INCOSPAR - The Indian National Committee for Space Research was founded in February 1962. TERLS - Thumba Equatorial Rocket Launching Station was founded in 1963, in Trivandrum, Kerala, and like with SUPARCO, the first rockets were sounding rockets. The first launch was in November 1963. At 8 degrees north of the geographic equator, TERLS is at a prime spot to study the ionosphere near the magnetic equator. Around 1965, India decided to develop its own launch vehicles, and the SSTC - Space Science and Technology Center - was formed in Trivandrum. The apex body for space research started with the Department of Atomic Energy, moved to PRL (Physical Research Labs) and ultimately in 1968, ISRO - the Indian Space Research Organization was formed. Dr Hoodbhoy confuses the apex body with the constituents. Pakistan, if it ever had a lead, is at most of a few months.

I had the very doubtful privilege of supervising two Suparco sponsored Ph D research students. I only accepted them because they were sponsored by the Pakistani Government. They had no idea about what is involved in undertaking research. Nor could they put together more than 2 sentences of English. In spite of detailed supervision on a day to day basis and help with the writing of the thesis it took them more than 6 years to submit their theses. Both of them were the worst students I supervised during my academic career.

Burka was not a common practice in India - never. It was forced on the Hindus due to ruthless islamic invasions. In fact Indian women occupied a higher status than men as the presiding deity of vedanta (the highest spiritual form of Hinduism is goddess , not god; ). This does not mean that women always had it that easy. Islamic invaders made Hindus realign their parctices to what is acceptable to ruthless islamic rulers ! Many muslims actually take pride in this, but what they oppressed was plural and liberal culture which valued eclecticism and syncretism

Actually Chandrayaan II had two components: A Moon orbiter which is still functional and a Lander which crashed. So Chandrayaan II was not a failure, but partial success/ partial failure. The Chandrayaan II orbiter will orbit the moon for a long time to come and keep the Chandrayaan II mission going. Its own output is successful and we continue to receive important research data.

Space technology is helping reduce poverty. Therefore those who think space exploration and its allied activities are pure luxury and vanity projects need to educate themselves. This view has been expressed by several western journalists wrt India's advanced space program through which services are provided at lowest cost to the most remote parts of the country.

Reaching mars and landing a rover is MOM2 mission, NASA is far ahead of everyone, thing is USA is advanced in everything from defence sector to aerospace. NASA is connected ESA always, these guys are developing themselves on their own with helping each other while ISRO has to everything alone.

He is wrong. JAXA's asteroid missions were significant, but nothing is more difficult than the complexity of soft landing a vehicle on the surface of large cosmic objects like Planets or Satellites, not to say about landing on conspicuous sites like the South polar region of moon. The very technical expertise and accuracy required with careful planning is more immense in the later. There's a reason why only 3 countries till now had been able to land on moon. Not even Japan or ESA. There's a reason again, why Chandrayaan 3 is getting so many media coverage from around the globe, when compared to Japan's asteroid missions.
