Chanel Mini 2.55 Reissue So Black Patent Leather UPDATE❗️

How do you feel about Chanel patent leather? In this video, I share my thought process on deciding whether or not to keep the Chanel mini reissue in so black patent leather. It's absolutely stunning but will it be high maintenance? I hope this video is helpful for anyone else who might be considering patent leather or even the so black style Chanel bags.

I think it’s interesting that you have now bought and returned two reissue minis and sold your reissue WOC as you hadn’t used it - so you’re obviously attracted to the reissue and love the look and all the history associated with it, but in reality it perhaps isn’t the bag for you when it comes to actually using it! I can relate to loving a particular style and re-buying it hoping the next time it would work, (but deep down knowing it probably isn’t right) 😊 x

Wow, so good line of thoughts! Many people just buy and scream yes I've got another Chanel bag. Without thinking will they use it, how they use it... as I said in my review video, patent leather has big issues, sometimes more than usual leather. And as I think 1) you should keep this bag if you collect Chanel bags 2) you should keep if you want bag in patent leather 3) you should keep because non stop price increases and in future it is hard to find in that price. In any other cases you shouldn't keep it, because you have so many beautiful things, and yes, YSL bag much better, as I think:) so thank you again, you make super useful videos!

Yes, if you have to rationalize why you should keep the bag, then you don’t really love it. It’s a good idea to test out patent with the card case.

i had a patent reissue 226 in navy... you can imagine how shiny it is when i carry it in the dark :). i love it its so bold and master piece.. its not really high maintenance just dont carry it around extreme heat etc... i actually spill yogurt on it and its totally fine. cant imagine if i spill it on lambskin :(. i agreed not keeping many bags for your girl.... their style will change so i just keep 3 bags (limited edition bags) for her.. 2 years ago i used the same excuse and i got so many bags and said i had a daughter to pass on... my husband just called me out lollllllll

Totally agree that if you don’t absolutely love love it every time you look at it, you should not keep it. I love hearing your thought process. I try to be mindful as well, but I admit I am not as good as you are with it. I would love to see a wear and tear video on thenLV speedy bb. It tempts me every time but I have so many black bags, including the patent toy loulou and a mini peekaboo that are both small so I can’t justify it. We will see if I can resist for ever (haha). The reissue chain by the way is more comfortable than my other Chanel’s with the interwoven leather chain. I think because as you said, it’s flat. Enjoy the card case. It’s gorgeous!

Great thought processing about the patent leather Chanel bag. I still think that you should have at least one in your collection, considering that this one in particular is super stunning. 😍😍😍 I have a couple myself from Dior, Gucci and LV and I would never part with them. There’s something pretty and vocal about patent leather. I love carrying them on a rainy day, especially. Such a classic and chic look! 😉❤️ And as long as you know how to care for it, there’s not much difference with anything luxury. That’s just my opinion. Xox, 😁💐

I have that exact same cardholder and absolutely adore it. It’s technically PVC coated crumpled calfskin (not patent leather). Enjoy it 💛

Beautiful bag, but it seems like the right decision for you. I have both the mini reissue (in aged black calfskin) and the same black lambskin speedy BB (which I tried to resist but my husband insisted I get for Christmas because he knew I loved it hahaha). I was surprised to find that the reissue strap is lighter and more comfortable for me than the speedy BB strap, which digs into my shoulder a bit unlike the reissue strap. But that might just be me 😊

How sweet of your husband! I do love the speedy BB and the chain is fine when I wear a blazer or coat, but you’re right, on a thin t shirt or bare shoulder, it’s not so comfortable.

I like the look of patent, but everything I've ever had has gone sticky eventually😖 I think you made the right decision in returning - I never need to 'rationalise' things I love! Agree it's not a good idea to get expensive pieces for your 11 year old - tastes definitely change.

I agree about not buying too much to save for your daughter. I totally get the reasoning why, but my daughter is 14 and has NO interest in handbags. At all. Her favorite colors have also changed over time. I love the black patent bag, but if you are unsure, it is probably better to wait.

Hello and Thank you for all the feedback and thoughts in regards to Chanel patent leather. Instead of just mindless buying. Honestly, investing in patent I believe is not a good idea since the resale value is not there. I found that less women are interested in patent leather because if anything happens to it can not be repaired and I see a lot of damage in resale patent leather and that affects the resale price. I believe is not a sound investment choice but if you like you can buy a patent leather in none designer brand so you won't be devastated for possible wear and tear later on🥂❤️

What I will say might not make sense (especially to Chanel lovers!), but looking at the Loulou, I don't know why, but I kind of feel like with the Loulou you get the edgy, cool, "dark" vibe that you would get with the so black reissue. Again, I don't want it to sound like I'm disrespecting the heritage behind the reissue as I am myself fascinated by Coco Chanel's influence. I'm simply saying this considering my understanding of your style! :) I feel like your Loulou perfectly does the job for when you want a mini black bag that has an edge to it. Also, I will never get over how gorgeous that Speedy BB is. I would love an updated review! :)

That speedy bb is adorable . I’m not sure if it has been released yet or not , but I saw an empriente speedy 22 in black and it comes with a wide strap like the multi pochette as well as a gold link chain strap , pretty sure I saw it on FoxyLV’s IG page . It’s much more imprinted than the speedy bb that you have from what I saw in the photos . I don’t own any empriente leather from LV , your very knowledgeable , what type of leather is empriente leather ? Also would you say it’s more durable than the lambskin speedy bb ? Or vice versa? Gotta say I didn’t expect to like patent leather at all , but in a mini bag , it’s actually really pretty ! ! I’ve always admired the look of a lady Dior , almost went for 1 a few times , but something always held me back . 1 I don’t know what size I would prefer . 2. I’m not a fan of that flap they have now , I like the zipper look better at the top , but have heard that the zipper makes it super hard to get in and out of . 3. I am an extremely casual person 98% of the time ,unless I go to a fancy dinner or event like a wedding , I just can’t justify the price for a bag that seems more fancy to me than casual . I have never had patent leather until now and honestly if it wasn’t handed down to me , I wouldn’t have chosen it in any brand . I will for sure keep it though , it’s a nice bag to keep and hand down to a granddaughter some day , especially the way Chanel keeps raising their prices !! Oh, I haven’t seen the Speedy 22 in empriente yet but to answer your question, empriente leather is generally quite durable. It’s the leather they use on the Pochette Métis (if you ever saw their black, pink or beige ones in leather). I love the feel of lambskin myself. As for the Lady Dior, I’ve been smitten for several years but have always hesitated. But I may have found “the one” recently! 😉

Is good to rethink about the purchases and good that fashionphile has very generous return policy. Yes even if you return this, your collection is very complete in my opinion. I wish i had a few Chanel handbags like yours. Am trying to get my first Chanel in the 21S Mini top handle. Fingers crossed. Yeah do share your review for the Speedy in Lambskin. I had mine in the Damier Ebene and love it. Hope to add a few more pieces of LV and Chanel in my collection. My "luxury" i.e LV (exclude Coach, Longchamp, Furla) is just very very small but i really love what i had so far.

I had the reissue but I just couldn’t get used to the turn lock, I found it really fiddly. It was definitely needed 2 hands so I sold it 😔. How did you find the turn lock? I had a black patent Jimmy Choo bag for a decade and honestly it was BOMB proof! I sold it after 10 years and it looked pristine still. I would definitely not be put off buying patent again in terms of wear and tear. I think you can get tired of the ‘look’ tho. I know what you mean about it not being understated

I know what you mean - the mademoiselle lock is a bit tricker to maneuver with one hand. It's something I think I'd get used to over time, but overall I think the 2.55 style may not be for me. Good to know Jimmy Choo patent shoes last!!! xx

I seriously agree that you should return it. I had a patent leather Christian Dior bag years ago and I had colour transfer on it. It was a beige patent leather bag so the colour transfer was obvious. I also have a Chanel wallet and a cardholder with the CC in patent leather and that part cracked and felt sticky. So I don't think patent leather holds up well in the long run.

I did not expect chanel to charge more for the so black,,, Hermes doesn't charge you more for rose gold HW. I am not sure about the Hermes so Black, but... I'm sure they do not, since their HW is actually plated in precious metals... and the so black is not. But by now... We are used to Chanel taking any single opportunity to charge extra coins... so tacky.

Oh this was agonising 😢💔 I loved both. But, I admire your reasoning and discipline which I too am trying to exercise with bag choices. I just sold 14 bags from my collection (which honestly, I’ve not used for a decade!) with intent to reduce to a more appropriate number to suit lifestyle.
