Today I unbox and review the Chanel Gardenia Scented Body Oil. This Les Exclusifs Chanel body oil is a brand new 2024 release. It came very unexpectedly, together with three other perfume oils. the other three oils are 1957, Beige and Coromandel. The Gardenia Perfumed Body Oil is very fragrant and can have a variety of uses. I'm a proud Gardenia owner and user and my jaw just DROPPED! I loved that you mentioned layering with the original Gardenia fragrance, cos you got me thinking how well this would get along wth other gardenias (like the Elizabeth taylor one, which is beautiful but could use a tad of sweetness). Its so good on its own that you might not want to cover up the smell by layering it with other type Gardenias from other brands but you can certainly try it out and see how you like it. Let us know if you try layering it with other brands and how you like the results. 💖

They usually start with the best sellers. Yes. Although, even though Sycomore is among the best sellers, it possibly might not translate as well smell-wise in oil form… just a hunch but I might be wrong about this. We shall have to wait and see if Sycomore too gets an oil update.

Thank you for this review! Chanel is the only perfume I wear but I don't often because my skin/eyes is so sensitive to it, but oil, I can do. Gardenia is one of my favorites, and I'm thrilled and had no idea either there was a Gardenia L'Huile. This may be a way I can incorporate her in my everyday life...Thank you for sharing! I am just thrilled.

I just love when you say "Y'all." It's so cute!! I was at a Chanel Beauty Boutique two days ago, to test Comete. I was so disappointed. They're not getting it until May 1st. Here's something special, the SA said that they're coming out with a new one soon, Gabrielle L' Eau. I think it won't be here until the Summer though.

My mom loved gardenias. So this reminds me of her. I love body oil. I like to put it on damp skin and let it soak in. I dry off, not all the way. Then I apply oil. It soaks in and then your skin dries quickly anyway. Gardenia is also the most beautiful wedding bouquet flower and fragrance. ❤

A great way to use this and make it stretch in the shower would be to after showering while still in the shower apply small amounts droplets to entire body while skin is still damp. Let sit for a few minutes then pat dry with a clean towel. Believe it or not it’s 1000 times better than using body lotion and you shouldn’t be oily feeling in the slightest

The four of them ( Beige, Gardenia, 1957 and Coromandel) will be on sale in Japan on May, 3 at 49 000 yens ( 310 US dollars). In early April, Mrs Takada, my Chanel ' Beauty Confidant" (as they call the sales associates here) pulled them out of a drawer and made me test them. Coromandel is fantastic on my skin, lasting for hours. I have made the reservation.

Fabulous and what a great price! 40 dollars cheaper than in the US plus don’t forget the tax one needs to add in the US in some states on top of the price. Coromandel was strong on my SA’s skin too but Gardenia was the best on my skin. Second best was Coromandel. If I get a second oil, it will be Coromandel. For now I am enjoying Gardenia very much each day.

@@essence-tiallydacob9611 Back in Paris for Easter holiday, I went to the Chanel boutique rue Cambon where I was STUNNED by the prices ! Les Exclusifs COLOGNE 200 ml bottle was priced at 360 euros (!!) whereas in Japan I bought it last year (July, 2023) at 40 000 yens~240 euros. (Today, April 2024, the Cologne price is 45 000 yens~265 euros - I need a new bottle to face the japanese summer.) My God, glad I live in Japan !

Hi Dacob, seems like Chanel's staff heard my prayers!😅 Gardenia absolutely needed to be mixed with something to pump up its performance, like a body lotion (I always layer Paris Venise with its lotion actually...) Anyways, I'm almost on my way to my Chanel boutique, (like tomorrow morning once I slept and they opened!😅😂) Thanks a bunch for the update, have a great weekend ❤❤❤

Hi Dacob - thank you for a fantastic review as always! I have the Gardenia edt pre reformulation and the Gardenia Parfum (small bottle) so I opted for 1957 oil as I find it very sophisticated. It’s on its way to me. Would 1957 oil and gardenia pair well together?

Thank you Nelly 🙏🏻💖 I think you could layer 1957 oil with Gardenia edt but it will get muskier. Depends how you prefer Gardenia to vibrate. I love mixing Gardenia oil with the edp personally because it gives the fragrance an extra creamy boost for me.

I heard about the oils on Thursday (April 11th) from the SA at the Chanel beauty boutique. In Canada, oils will be launched on May 1st along with Comète.

It is very light but yes, lovely as a perfume even though when applied in small drop quantities, it does not last too long.

They are supposed to launch in May of this year… but the date could change. One never knows with Chanel really. But some beauty boutiques already received the oils and are selling them directly in the boutiques as a soft launch before May. All one can do is call their local Chanel beauty boutique and ask if they already have the oils and if they can already sell them. 💖

Thank you Shikma 💖🙏🏻 The Les Beiges sparkling bronze oil is a different product with a different fragrance. Les Beiges is a makeup range from Chanel which released the sparkling bronze oil. The perfume from that oil is not the Beige perfume from Les Exclusifs. Its a totally different fragrance. Les Beiges is a collection of makeup and Les Exclusifs is a perfume range. They share nothing in common and the fragrance used to perfume the Les Beiges makeup products is not the perfume called BEIGE, which is made for the Les Exclsuifs perfume range. 💖

The Les Exclusifs oils are supposed to launch in May and should then be available on the Chanel website… but one never knows with Chanel. They might change their mind about the release date. For now the oils are getting a soft launch in some Chanel beauty boutiques that have already received their stock. One can only ask their local Chanel boutique if they would already sell the oils prior to official launch date.

Creo que te gustó más el aceite de gardenia que Cometa, me encantan los perfumes con notas altas de gardenia, el gusto por ellas nació de pequeña, mi abuelo ponía en su auto pequeños ramos de gardenia para aromatizar. En mi ciudad era muy común ver personas vendiendo pequeños ramos de ellas en las calles. Hoy es inusual, cuando puedo les compro un ramo, como mi abuelo para apoyarlos y las coloco en mi recámara.

We cannot compare comete to gardenia. That would be a very unfair comparison. What you need to understand is that Chanel’s Gardenia has been around since the 1920’s and I have had and worn Gardenia for many decades. This means that my nose has had decades time to get acquainted with Gardenia as opposed to two days time to get acquainted with comete. Comete is new to my nose so I am more careful to jump to superlative conclusions with it just yet. Comete needs to spend a lot more time with me before I could feel as comfortable with it as I do with Gardenia, which has been around for a hundred years. Like I said, we cannot compare the two in any way.

Coromandel oil has that patchouli vibe like 31 rue Cambon so in a way, one gets the vibe. No22 oil would be bliss for me!

They had four: jasmine, orient, rose and vanilla. Plus one for les exclusifs called Huile Douce. So technically five oils. All of them are still in distribution as of now.

Similar longevity but different intensity. Layered the oil and edp are heaven together.

The price is high. But its 150 dollars lower than the 200ml eau de parfum versions… plus you get an extra 50ml with the oils… so in a way… girl math here… hahah. But then I see that they charge around 250 dollars for the 250ml body oils from their massage range: Rose, Vanilla, Jasmin and Orient and I think to myself that they could have easily charged less for the les exclsuifs oils as well… but Chanel is Chanel… they love their money it seems above all else so we know the drill. Lol.

There is no link. They have only had a soft launch for now, directly in a few Chanel beauty boutiques. Possible official launch may be in May. Until then, your best chance is to go directly to a Chanel beauty boutique and ask if they already received their batches and if they are allowed to sell them already prior to the official launch date.
