Laughable. A luxury designer store that had inadequate security. And had the ACTUAL real bags on the shelves. You don't do that. You put the fakes out on the shelves and keep the real stuff in the back.

Every luxury stores (gucci, Dior, Louis Vuitton, Cartier, etc.)have real items on display for customers to see. The only exception is Hermes where they only sell bags to select customers after they have already pre-spent a certain amount. At Hermes, people are not even able to see a bag at the store unless the sales associates contacts the customer to offer a bag. It is impossible for Chanel to produce fakes for hundreds of seasonal styles and colors that are produced each season/year. It is also illegal to carry o fake bag in Europe. They should ,however, lock the bags up behind display cases rather than having them hanging or on selves where people can easily grab them. But like jewelry stores, the thieves can smash the glass and still take them. Maybe make display cases that are bullet/shatter proof? I think it would also help if the store just let one or two customers in at a time or by appointments only and lock the front door with a better security guard.

it was normal for this area. smash and grab isn't a thing yet. this started happening when law enforcement started softening and visitors from other counties started thinking they can get away with this behavior. we'll see how quickly these will be caught.

Stores should try what banks do, put trackers on merchandise. Random merchandise used for display have hidden trackers on them so that thieves can get tracked in real time while they flee, similar to bank robbers. If word gets around that random merchandise inside high-end stores might have trackers, maybe it can dissuade criminals. Apple AirTags (with disconnected speakers) sewn inside bags just meant for display/bait purposes could help catch these people.

I live in Virginia and have worked at two separate stores people would come in groups and steal thousands of dollars worth of perfume, shoes, clothes. The main problem is these criminals are not brought up correctly by their parents. They are not taught with good values and morals, it has nothing to do with being poor. You will not be poor in America if you are willing to work since there are plenty of jobs on the market. My cousins came to the U.S. with nothing and could not speak English when they first arrived.
