She was a damn orphan just trying to make it in the world and I have empathy for that even tho I grew up privileged. Hold on now you have to be careful suggesting people like Christian Dior had “ties” as you put it, it’s not that simple. Dior was not himself an established designer nor was he a sympathiser, simply he was a man working in a fashion house during the occupation of France and he like meany others where forced to obey orders. He dressed nazi wife’s yes did he want to ? No. His sister who he loved more than anything was a member of the French resistance who was captured, tortured and sent to a concentration camp.
