I'm with you. I'm not that picky either and if this were a pre-loved bag, then it might be ok. But for a new bag...no, this is not good. I bought a pre-loved 2011 double flap jumbo recently which was in better condition than this "new" bag. I'm so sorry, I know how disappointing this must have been and I'm very disappointed in Chanel for selling this as a new bag. I've heard others make note of the decline in craftmaship and w the price increase, I believe they are devaluing the brand which is such a shame. It may be that in time (sooner than later), Chanel may no longer garner the same respect in the luxury community. I've also heard the same issues w LV. Not sure what is happening...

Interesting video! I'm glad that you did return the bag. I thought that it would be worth mentioning that the Chanel Classic handbag is now selling on the Chanel site for $11,050 CDN. And based on the current videos I have watched talking about the decline of Chanel bag quality, I would much rather put my money in a GIC where I know that I will receive more money upon maturity. I understand that the pandemic has really done a number on most companies, but when you're asking your clients to fork out thousands of dollars more than ever before, you had better make it worth their while!! And Chanel is definitely falling short.

Sorry this happened. This is so upsetting to us that really die hard love the brand and classic flaps in particular. I don't yet have one in my collection, which would be a dream come true at this point, so I really felt you on this video. I can't say I would keep it at that quality. I believe you can find much better for less than what you paid. Btw, Love the lambskin! I wish you all the best, and no, I do not think you should spend more! Just my opinion to wait it out for the preloved market and your bag will come. Hope this helps take away some of the sting.

The moment you pull it out from the dustbag I already saw the flaws. It’s so upsetting to receive something like this when you paid ridiculously amount of money for that. It should be perfect. Please update me if you sent it back and got a replacement. Please don’t keep it. Get your money back. It’s better you buy a secondhand chanel flap if that’s gonna be the case.

The stuff of nightmares! There is no quality for the money we are expected to drop for this bag. I just went into Chanel Dubai Mall yesterday and was shocked at the way the mediums have been manufactured. All 3 caviar medium I saw had huge air pockets inside the bag, at the bag's bottom! The inner burgundy lining is not at all snug unlike previous season releases. Imagine the mess once the leather ages. The other thing I noticed is that the caviar leather feels so very soft and will easily lose its shape compared with previous batches. They are taking us for desperate fools. When I told the SA, she commented "oh but that's how they are made" haha hello no hunny not in my books. Not dropping 30k (UAE dirhams) on this sloppiness. Let me crave it admire it for its past glory, its ok I won't die if I don't get one this season at least 😆🤣

Never bought a chanel but I have watched MULTIPLE videos about defects. It is ridiculous how they are raising prices during a pandemic and also lowering their quality... You aren't being picky, you spent so much money to get a bag that makes you happy. Don't spend another thousand for the same bag. There are so many other brands out there with a better bang for your buck. (But that comes from someone like me who doesnt buy designer as investments, but as something I love and plan to keep forever)

I don't understand why you can't just exchange it. I'm not sure of Chanel's return exchange policy, but any normal policy you can exchange your item within the 30 days and I have never seen any wording to cover price increases just return/exchange within the time frame of initial purchase.

I see many people have had Chanel nightmares in recent years, but i've seen even bigger nightmares. I know of a famous society shoemaker who sold someone shoes for 5 figures, and the alligator skin was falling apart. When asking for a refund the client received terrible treatment and still has no refund years later. I know of others who also received faulty shoes from that maker, but they aren't famous so they get treated as nuisances if they complain.

With Chanel new one classic flap or Coco handle per year policy even if you buy one and return it, you can't buy another until the following year unless you can do a direct store swap. You’re right to return it. It’s not acceptable for what you paid for. You should consider collecting both sizes in different leathers. If I were you, I would buy a new caviar small/medium from the boutique and a vintage lambskin small/medium bag instead. My vintage small lambskin flap which is 30 years old (3 series) is around the same condition as your new one but with slightly flatter quilts. That was US$2400 full set with all inclusions which I bought online from a Japanese reseller in early 2021. They are now going for $3600-$5000. Good luck!

Absolutely return it. That's way 2 much money for an imperfect bag. If you can't get another one locked in at the same price, i would consider buying preloved. You can find bags that are in prestigious condition with better quality. If not, I'd skip it and wait to see what happens with chanel bc tons of customers are going off on chanel for their quality and raising their prices. The quality is not worth the price atm.

You are not picky, the bag looked imperfect the moment you took it out of it's dust bag. Bought this very same bag from Rue Cambon store in 2019 and had the SA show me four (!) bags, as the first three were wrinkled, had flat quilts or were crooked. I fell you 😞

I feel bad not for you but for the brand. This is too much of how they're manipulating us to say it's Chanel and it's luxury brand with a history. As I'm seeing some brand with so much effort of having a quality materials and craftsmanship but people didn't see that, only their eyes are in this craft brand and I agree of what you said they're pushing the people to buy because later on it will be a price increase again! This should stop and we should not tolerate this brand to fool us once more. I owned one mini rectangular and I lucky to have a quality one because that bag is from 2016. Not yet era of the influencers and before covid effect brand profit issue. Return it babe and get one that is 100% quality made. And if you really like this bag let them to give you the perfect one. Oh wow. That bag is in horrible condition. Other than the flaws that you pointed out, the leather looks extremely dry! I had a terrible experience last year trying to buy a chanel bag in reasonable condition. They should be able to exchange w/o you paying the difference. Oh NO - baby! First, if you called and the price was listed for whatever that’s the price you should be paying regardless of price increase. That would not have been acceptable response for me. Secondly, the customer service for Chanel has been horrible for a while now in store and online. Finally, when you lifted the bag and took off the padding I saw all the flaws. It’s Chanel not CHATEL, it’s luxury and you paid your money for the whole experience not “you’re being picky, it’s minor flaws”. No please return that bag, find something else - the price increase is ridiculous and greedy. Maybe luxury brands should work on their service and less on their perceived affluence.

Haha agreed that these prices are way too high for a CHATEL bag!! I returned the bag because I couldn’t justify keeping it without being totally happy. And the response on their part was so unacceptable - I was shocked!

I'm sorry, but even if that bag was in perfect condition, it's not worth $7500. Save your money. You don't need a CHANEL with what a $200-$500 bag at Nordstrom or Macy's can offer.These designer brands are making people poor. IMO, it's all a scam. These bags are not worth the price tag. It's a joke you guys are enticed by these flawed lack of quality bags.
