Hey Ventre: You did not list the funnel brand. Looking for one that wide. Do you have a brand or link to that funnel? Also, you showed a nice video of removing and putting back the skid plate, but you did not video the really hard parts (like on how you routed the hose, how you opened and closed the radiator petcock valve). That's where the real hard fun begins -- and that's the part that should be on video. Have a 2012 LR2 and I tried to do exactly what you did. The radiator valve turns only about 90 degrees, and no fluid flows. The hose is not easily routable. Had to loosen the plastic mud guard over the left front wheel to route the hose. As far as getting to the radiator valve, had to remove the bumper liner and so on. The sections that were not on video are actually the hardest part of the job. Recommend having the camera rolling throughout the entire job. Not just when removing or installing the 6 bolts on the splash guard. And you would still have the incorrect mix in your system because you ran water through the system to flush out the old fluid. Better to add some "full concentration" fluid to balance coolant back to 50:50 mix. A cheap hygrometer test (less than $10 on amazon) would do the trick. I know this from the experience of flushing other cars exactly how you did it (which is not a bad way to do it). The only difference would be to add 1/2 to 1 full quart of pure concentrate to correct the mixture.

I would like to know what car you are working at? Is it a small 2,2 Diesel 4 cylinder, a 4 cylinder 2 Liter petrol, or a 3,2 Liter straight six petrol engine? Also, I have absolutely no idea of where to look for the drain plug on mine, nor the extra drain plug on the engine block (or a tube there of)? In your video, you show a very narrowed down movie shot of the radiator drain, but where is it? On the left side, right side, fromt of rear? Kind regards.

Unsure of the latter part of your question but that engine is the 3.2 i6, you can see the intake manifold with the 6 tubes headed into the engine and it looks the same as my 3.2

Hey man, how did you complete the flush is not shown on the video . Did you oflush it by the lower radiator located under the driver side only ? Or did you find another drain plug to drain the rest of the coolan water?

i had replaced water pump and try to drain old coolant. when i open up drain valve, no water come out. i added water, still no water. should i run engine for several min to circulate left over coolant?

Not sure to have completey understood. After draining from lower plug, you add some water, running engine until is hot for opeing thermostat and mixing old fluid with water , then stop the engine and when is getting cold draining again ? In this case you should repeat the process more time? Thanks

DavideGalasio yes. I flushed out with water 4 or 5 times before refilling it.

Any chance you could do a video on changing the lower coolant hose. I believe it connects the to oil cooler.

I just bought a 2017 Range Rover Evoque 34K miles, Isn't there an upper hose bleeder plug, next year I will change the coolant, think it is best to remove the upper radiator hose and fill the cooling system from a dummy upper hose connect to the radiator.

Hello, in reference to the drain tap was it a full turn or quarter to get the fluid flowing? It turned a quarter for me and no flow.
@ventregarage30025 жыл бұрын
W Kendall I had to turn it more than a quarter turn. It took quite a bit of force to open it. I thought it was going to break.

@@ventregarage3002 you can buy a drain plug wing that will fit the drain plug wings and use an open end wrench to open the drain plug, use it on my Honda Element.(The Thexton Mfg Co 485 radiator socket set plastic wing adapter and a 15mm box wrench used to open the drain plug. The wing adapter and the box wrench have a narrow profile that will fit up into the drain plug area. It only took a little nudge to open the drain plug.)

I have a question for you: I have a 2006 Land Rover LR2 and just today it notified me that my coolant was low, so I found some Peak brand antifreeze/coolant 50-50 mix (no water) in my garage and I added some to the coolant tank and now my husband thinks that is bad for the car and it will eventually break down the radiator and ruin the engine.... curious on your thoughts? I only added maybe a cups worth of coolant to the tank and I’m wondering if I went over the max fill line what kind of damage could happen from that as well?
@actualizare4 жыл бұрын
All Land Rover require a specific coolant. The genuine LR XLC coolant is made by Havoline and is the same as Havoline XLC. If you cant find the Havoline, then any OAT coolant (preferably one approved MB 325.3) would do just fine.

If you would then please advise just how much coolant comes out during the draining process ?
@ventregarage30026 жыл бұрын
Wayne Johnson I didn’t measure it, but the whole system hold 8.5 quarts. Probably 2/3 of that drained out on the initial drain. I flushed about 3 gallons of water through it before I filled it up.

If you emptied you radiator, added water emptied again and added premixed you may be to diluted. Use a hydrometer to check the gravity. They sell for 5 bucks at any autoparts store.

Hey Budd, nice videos.. just a question, have you done a transmission fluid flush on your LR2? I have a 2008 LR2 6 cylinder, any help, tip or advise will be very appreciated. I did took a look what’s involved and I find out after removing the air box that the alternator/AC compressor and engine mount is kind of restricting access to the Fill Bolt. Help please
@ventregarage30026 жыл бұрын
Anthony Tempongko thanks! I have not done the transmission flush. I’m working on making a video for that. The problem is that the fluid level is set by the temp of the fluid, so you must have a way to measure trans fluid temp in order to refill it properly.
@anthonytempongko12916 жыл бұрын
Ventre Garage, hey thanks for your reply... I bought a laser temperature reader (lol) I was thinking of using that as a way of getting a temp on the casing and also the fluid that will be coming out. However the full bolt was a more challenging par for me, I noticed that the A/C compressor and Engine mount will be a restriction on gaining access to the full bolt, please correct me if I’m wrong I double checked it this morning and still same result (I’m splitting hairs) . Thanks for your time.
