I have a 2008 ford tarsus x sel with no rust 265000 miles in Ohio. No issues other than cold weather starting. I got a larger battery with more cold cranking amps. Still if it gets below 32* I still have trouble staring my car. Changed to a thinner oil. Changed the starter. Changed the spark plugs. No change. Any ideas would be appreciated. I don’t want to get another car. This car has nothing else wrong with it but this cold starting issue.

Yes the heads leaked oil under the metal base under the valve cover. Dig a little deeper while replacing head gaskets. Thats how its found. That hard glue goop misses at the corners sometimes. It may cost you some torx bits, getting to it, also. Once its sealed, then the pistons and bearings were noisy, last one i had that far apart. Early 2000's 2.5L. Hope this helps somebody. Catch it early. Before 70,000 miles. You can use a yard engine, build yours, the switch back later.

What cracks me up is that FAA certified Lycoming and Continental aircraft engines use silk thread to seal the crankcase halves. The last couple decades the FAA has finally allowed the engine case halves to be machined with grooves to accept O-ring style seal.

I had a 1978 Subaru 4wd station wagon. I never had a problem with it at all except someone stole the front seats out of it. It had the pushrod boxer motor not the overhead cam version.

He was wrong on 505 crf fuel treatment it sucks n doesn’t work. Had bad mpg about 12 now after 505 crf it’s 11.6 days later. Lucas is better it help me from 12 mpg to 15 but after 3 months it’s back to 12 mpg when I didn’t use it. Guess I need to look at the injectors
