I really like this, if I wanted another Dark Pool...I'd just listen to Dark Pool imo, this is how bands should kind of evolve their sound, yes...it's similar to what Loathe is doing and the Deftones inspiration is fucking present for sure, but I dig this way more than I should, some would say the vocals are buried in the mix, not really, I have good hearing and pretty good sound setup and I enjoy the vocal approach, reminds me of MUSE too, production is very tight and on point :) They still have their signature guitars mixed into this and that proggy part is lovelyyyyy Excited to see what comes next, Casanova is decent, this is what they should do IMPRESSIVE

If i wanted to listen to deftones id listen to deftones, or the many replicas out there. There's a big difference between wanting the same album and wanting something that is a logical progression. To me evolving means taking your original sound and pushing it even further, not jumping ship to a style that is 20 years old.

Sound like deftones, would never be a “sound evolution”. Actually deftones are really boring.

@@ESPECTRO6_ agreed, they have some good ideas and the whole metalcore with ambiance thing was largely inspired by deftones but their music is quite boring, similar to that of Tool. I used to be a big deftones fan, seen them live and everything but their style doesnt particularly age well imo

I definitely agree about your points about how The Dark Pool had something more original or prominent about it. I do like this song more than Casanova (I do like both of them). My favorite part of this song is the first verse part when Jacob starts with the “fly away” lyrics with that guitar chord playing in the background. That specific part sounds so good to me. Reminds me a lot of the same sound structures you had mentioned about Deftones and the late 90s to early 2000s sound. I grew up in that era and I can definitely hear it. I really can’t wait to hear these two singles within the context of their next album. Love this band🤘

This track gave me extreme Karnivool vibes especially the ending. This song is 1000 times better than Casanova imo. They found a way to include the ethereal sound of The Dark Pool and mix it in with the 90s/00s hard rock style and I love it. Definitely wish they would’ve expanded on The Dark Pool, but if they are going in this direction, they should have more songs like Arkangel.

@bradleykramer42692 жыл бұрын
I just discovered TDP like 6 months ago, and was blown away. It felt like a hole I didn't even know existed was filled in my music heart. The ambience, the vocals, the overall feel of that album was new and fresh to me. I was stoked that they released a new track when casanova came out and couldn't wait to hear it. Afterwards I was a disappointed. Same with this one. I'm not saying it's not "good". I'm just past the 90s. I'm always looking for something new and exciting. Style change is fine. I mean I love BTBAM and some of their albums took a bit to digest, but I love all of it. Because despite a sound change, they were still at their core BTBAM and made the music bend to their sound. I cant fight my gut on this. Not my cup-o-tea

I get why some people might enjoy it, but personally, I really miss their sound from The Dark Pool. Even there I noticed the vocalist was doing less and less screaming, so I'm not really surprised by this sound switch but still disappointed a little. It simply doesn't fit with where I'm at musically right now. Maybe someday I'll enjoy it more, but for now, it's not something I'd go back to. I still really like some of the creative ideas they bring to the table.

Deftones are the best band ever, but dont expect this kind of structure. What the new generation is doing is mixing the best of Deftones melodic, ethereal parts and adding Djent style guitars. Definitely like their older stuff more in my opinion, honestly doesn’t feel like a logical transition of sound for them, Casanova was pretty out there and I think they’re changing too much with this track too honestly, still like the band but I don’t think their new stuff is for me. I also think this is a huge Deftones influence and there are a bunch of bands doing this already and this just seems like they’re a little behind in the game when it comes to incorporating that influence and it seems a little forced.
