Dear Amy and Matt, Congratulations on your splendid decision to circumnavigate England aboard Florence! Swapping polar bears for the delightful unpredictability of British weather? Now that's a choice worthy of the highest commendation. After all, why freeze in the Arctic when you can experience the charmingly erratic conditions of the English coast? Your KZbin channel is a veritable beacon in the vast sea of online content. The quality of your videos is as comforting as a warm cup of tea and as intriguing as an Agatha Christie mystery. You manage to share the highs and lows of life at sea with a serenity and skill that are truly inspiring. You've cultivated a loyal community that eagerly awaits each new video, drawn not just by your maritime exploits but also by the life lessons you subtly impart. Your knack for turning every storm into an opportunity and every mishap into a fascinating anecdote is a rare gift. You possess the unique ability to narrate your adventures with disarming authenticity and a touch of humour so refined it almost slips by unnoticed - except to those of us who appreciate a good British witticism. Thank you for continuing to inspire us and share these precious moments. May Florence always carry you to exciting new horizons, and may your journey around England be as memorable as your global voyages. Cheers, A frog among many others 🐸 😉

I got such joy watching Florence sail. It welled up in me especially with the shots from the bow. That is my happy place. The perpetual surge forward as the power of the wind drives you on. Wonderful. Thank you. It’s winter here and my boat is waiting for the new season on her mooring.

Florence built by fine Norfolk craftsmen in Wroxham. hence the gel coat lasting the life of the hull in perfect condition , a little bit bias as I am a man of Norfolk living not far from where she was built, Have a wonderful sail round the good old British Isles .

Rolly Tasker has been very good for Florence. They look very nice and getting that slot effect with your Genoa and jib is a real bonus that you will find very helpful. The B&G stuff seems to be working well for you as well and I think the circumnavigation of the UK will be epic. You two look so happy. Nice to see you enjoying sailing again.

Another lovely video. I personally really hope you to not lose the ethnographic curiosity of what has made your channel so great. The UK may feel familiar to you, but to many it's still a place of wonder. We all discovered so many places and cultures during your world trip, and this could be a chance to (re)discover the wonders of the UK and its culture and quirks. The history and importance of the white cliffs of dover for example, and we can't think of the Ramsgate area without thinking of those Turner paintings. Meanwhile, I really think Amy would enjoy reading 'Sightlines' by the Scottish poetess and writer, Kathleen Jamie. I think it would resonate a lot with this journey (and I encourage anyone else reading this to delve into it too)

Florence looks gorgeous after all the upgrades. As an 82 year old former sailor, I am personally excited to vicariously sail along with you as you circumnavigate the British Isles. I spent 30 years sailing the coast of Maine and Nova Scotia first on a 40 ft and then a 46 ft Tartan. My 94 yr old sailing partner is still going out of Camden, Me, but I am unable to join him due to long covid. You both are so inspiring, and the video is just beautiful!

Yes, that's EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT YOU SHOULD DO (but I didn't like to say anything negative). 1) I could see you you've been working harder on land than at sea, all winter. 2) you haven't been used to northern winters for years 3) so, you need a rest and a relaxing easy trip to test out the boat. 4) I have been in the Artic, and yes you need more time to prepare, especially if you're going across the straight to northern Quebec province. 5) I think your sail round Britain will produce a lot more interest to your viewers, than they bargain for, especially if you pull in and explore selected places. Off we go.!!!!!!!!

Must say you both appear rejuvenated after your stint on land. The boat looks a picture and the substantial upgrades sees Florence restored to her best. TBH I had some reservations about how appealing a journey to the Arctic would be from a viewers perspective. Not a destination I personally would wish to experience. BUT a circumnavigation of the British Isles!!!!! Now that definitely ticks all the boxes. As someone much invested in the Viking history in Britain I will be very interested in any nautical 'backgrounding' you may wish to offer up re some of the earliest ultimate seafarers in that part of the world. Much to look forward to and enjoyed.

I've actually been rewatching old episodes sequentially from before I came across your channel. SUPERB repository of useful knowledge. I particularly appreciate the budgeting, preventative maintenance and planning top tips one can glean from your videos. I had a "trust fund" similar to the one you describe having in that it was an ephemeral one derived from memories of special places and austere environments that took effort and care to reach, rather than dynastic financial wealth. I grew up in the north cascades and my first job was as a mule packer and hunter's guide, I got to see a kaleidoscope of landscapes while running pack strings, I didn't even realize how little I was being paid til I started tending bar and doing woodworking and made "real" money. The notion of a "vacation" has never entered my thinking.

So good to see you both and Florence back on the water. I cannot wait for your voyage around these islands. There is so much to see and I hope you will stop off and give us some ‘home tours’ from a distance. Do stop off if you can in Tongue by Lairg (the home of a late friend). And a few extras if I may; if you have diving equipment do look at the Shiants. and also the west (Atlantic) side of Harris and Taronsay. All beautiful beyond words. You may also like the many gin distilleries (yes gin!). Btw loved the sound track about five minutes in. This is the same one you used on some of the main episodes in the lumpy weather’ coming back across the Atlantic which in my view deserved an award.

The Outer Hebrides are stunning and St Kilda absolutely ethereal, plus all the other Western Isles, but don't miss the Northern Isles, including the Orkneys (Sanday has beaches that look like the Caribbean) and Fair Isle and the Isles of Scilly. My grandfather emigrated from the Shetlands many years ago to Cape Town where I live. It'll be great to see the islands if you stop off there. One of the reasons I love small boat sailing is it's so eco friendly. I heard a statistic the other day that 100 whales wash up on the shores of the UK every year now. I wonder if it's not to do with all those windfarms? They seem like a good idea for us but not for marine life. Looking forward to seeing the puffins!🐧
