Cargo manager (and unofficial Buffalo den mother) Kelly has problems enough when Jynelle’s holiday leaves her shorthanded. But when her engineer husband Juan quits on the spot after a blowout with Joe, Kelly is left in a terrible position. Will Kelly stay - or will she go?
Scott also gets bad news: he must stand down from flying so a rival co-pilot can be fast-tracked to captain. Scott pulls out all the stops to secure a new contract flying practically to the North Pole, which will get him back in the pilot’s seat. But his rival is also interested in this new dream job - flying the C-46 to Eureka, a tiny research station at the top of the world.
And after nine months of brutal work and tough luck, Jeremy sees light at the end of the tunnel. Buffalo needs a new DC-3 co-pilot, and contrary to expectation, he’s getting a crack at it. But first, he’s got to pass the test of flying with Joe.

My Father was a commercial pilot, flew the DC-3, 4, 6 and Electra 188. Glad too see them still flying, brings back memories.

Joe will definitely shit in his mess kit with his temper. As an aviation business owner, you have to weigh your decisions on these kind of things. Hell, I think Joe would fire everyone in this company and watch it fold like a lawn chair thinking he’s right.

My heart goes out to Juan. It's very difficult, to not take something personally, when you're the one at the receiving end of being told off, cussed at, put in a clump of others, who don't carry their weight, no matter what type of job you do. Once upon a time, I had a boss like that, albeit in telecommunications. I was the only Male, in the department. I referred to her as, "Satan in drag". Guess what? When administration finally figured out, she was not cut out for the job, she was finally terminated. Guess who became the communications manager? Yep, me. Without even applying for the "open position". After 20 years, in what became a constant reclassification, in order for me to receive raises, I answered to my true calling. Emergency Nursing. @ 63, I'm still at it. I'm not tooting my own horn here, but talk about initials, on my ID badge, after my surname... No, not for recognition, but to continue to enhance my education, and be there for the patients, not me. Those initials have never taken away from me, my true love. Nor, have I ever stomped around, ... taking away from the others who also chose to, follow their dream.

For me nursing has always been my true calling. Unfortunately diagnosed with SLE several years ago. Had to give up my practice. I did it all but my great love was hospice. It was such an honor to be a nurse. ❤️

I've had bosses like Joe- they're such assholes. It doesn't matter what you do for them, how far above and beyond you go, or how crucial you are to the operation- when shit goes wrong, they treat you and everyone else like dirt whether you had anything to do with it or not. They're like a spoiled kid having a fit because they didn't get what they wanted. And just like a kid will cut his nose to spite his face- so will they.

Juan really was a professional he got that plane back in service the same day joe should have gave him the rest of the week off with pay for busting his ass making sure they kept the plane working so they kept the contract. I own a auto repair shop, I keep lots of things in stock to make things easier and my guys don’t always listen they don’t put things back where they go, don’t always tell me when we run out of something so I know how joe felt when his spare engine couldn’t be used because it was a waste of time pulling an engine out of a running plane it created a bunch of un necessary work employees don’t understand shit like that I would be really madd too I would have yelled at Juan too but after 20 minutes I would have said I’m sorry and I would have had a talk with all my mechanics to ask them why my spare engine wasn’t ready to use

It wad on a KZbin site called 3 minutes of aviation. They show the more doggy side of aviation. One of my favourites was a 125 executive Jet taking off down hill down a logging track, with tall pine trees on either side !

Why would anyone work at that airline . They have old worn out planes that seem to be breaking down in every show. The owner goes around yelling at people and after watching each show it is clear the mechanics are working for next to nothing and have no savings. They should be making big bucks at their age be working on jet planes .

Joe knows the importance of having things covered, ready to go, and contingencies in place. Not everyone else gets it, because they're not pilots or too new to understand. He also cuts things to close because of low margins or competitive contracts. On top of it all he's a bit of a stubborn asshole. He doesn't deserve the loyalty of those under him, but he's come to expect it. They need to unionize, or buyout a big enough chunk of the company to be able to make realistic demands of Joe, just for good balance. Joe wouldn't be able to make such snap, often biased, decisions, which is what is really needed there.

You know I've watched several of these episodes and it is interesting to see a different kind of business that's so unique but if you take away the plane aspect of it what I see is a business that was built from ground up by one persons drive and inability to be told no but the same things that help them build the business are now working against them you have your pilots who accept a job with the understanding that yes they will have to earn that spot but that training and opportunity keeps getting sidelined no one is going to stick around You got mechanics who keeps saying the equipment is too old the availability of parts is becoming more and more limited and the knowledge needed to continue to service them is one bad day away from walking out the door You also have a family-owned and operated business and no matter what is going to bleed into business operations and that is why there are Fortune 500 companies that have rules that do not allow direct family to work in the company it's entertaining to watch but it's a s*** show

Lots of those Northern Flying Services were founded by hardy aviators who had what it takes to make it in a very harsh environment. The aircraft that could do the job have only become antiquated because of support for the aircraft, not the job itself. Those operations are way too risky and fluid for any fortune 500 companies to really mess with. Buffalo is a life style business, not a share holder entity, the economics are completely different and life is a sh*t show in general
