Great work. Here in the US entering any water way with machinery is a challenge with all of the regulations. I’m glad you are able to do this work to keep your farm going! Great operator skills.

It’s highly illegal to change the flow of a waterway… even a seasonal creek. A neighbor dammed up a seasonal creek, and was fined $1000 per day until it was put back the way it was. They don’t play around when it comes to water or waterways.

You shouldn't be allowed to enter the waterways unless absolutely necessary and all the precautions are taken to prevent erosion and plus all that sediment destroys fish nests and whole habitats. I've been running excavators for 25 years and fishing for trout (brook mainly) for almost 40 years. Land management and conservation is the way to keep things good now and forever. It helps to understand your impact just to make yourself a better operator.

@@johntexan4165 I did a job for an Amish family one day putting a pond in. I know the laws and the all the engineering that goes along with the job so I tell Amish guy the laws and explain to him that it's not a good idea to put the pond where he wants since he wants it in a small stream 4' wide. That small stream is a feeder stream that I know well since it starts near my land and actually has wild brooks and rainbow trout as well I've saw that stream reach 6' over it's top when there's some serious flooding which happens almost to regular now. Anyway Amish guys says do it I call the codes guy he said go ahead so we dug. It's right close to the side of the road so it's not like you could even hide the work and I should have walked away but you know money talks. Needless to say the great Halloween storm of 2019 (one year after building it) where we received a total of 8" of rain in 12 hours wiped out 2 beaver dams north of the pond and by the time the water hit pond and blew out the dam I built it was well over 6' high and wiped out everyone's property from there down to where it met the river which was something like 18' over it's top. Sorry for the long story

@@johntexan4165 nobody cares because they are amish, they get away with everything. the damn DEC should have shut me down there never should have been permitting allowed. where i am brook trout is the state fish and its breeding grounds as well as the wetlands that feed any trout streams are highly protected and regulated. the neighbors love the guy still but they are used to there properties being wiped out now about every 5 years.
