Dave is the reason I went out and got a second job. Thank you Dave for all the good you do. God Bless.

Same! I used to work only one job part time. Had no interest in college I usually fall asleep during lectures anyways. But now I work two jobs, I’ve been budgeting, and on top of that I stated my own extra car detailing business on the side for extra money. It’s truly been a blessing finding Dave and I’m so grateful to have been lucky to find him at the age of 21. I already know if I keep this up, when I’m 31 I’m gonna look back and thank the 21 version of me for the sacrifices that I’m making.

I am full time roughly 35 hours a week. Hopefully I am going to be starting college classes online from home in the fall. I have Co workers who are living with grandparents and relatives trying to pay off thousands and thousands of dollars in student loans. I think God has me here (for now) Showing me the right path to go down. I've Learned The True Meaning Of Saving And Meeting goals. I have a reliable car and I am looking to the future! You made us change our attitude and behaviour, thank you so much.

Last year I was a senior in high school and got accepted to so many good colleges, one of which was my first choice, Spelman College. I found out Spelman was $40,000 since I wasn't going to get Financial Aid, so I ended up staying in my city and going to a local school paying off college monthly. All my friends and family think I'm stupid because the school I go to isn't a big name but Spelman is.
@ness03888 жыл бұрын
Brandon Dreher Spellman is a prestigious liberal arts women's HBCU. No offense but there's probably a reason you haven't heard of it. While where you went is not an indicator of success, saying no one has heard of Spellman is a tad ignorant. It is a top school nationwide and is #1 in Historically Black Colleges and Universities...in case you didn't know what HBCU meant. But Ashliegh, you know the world we live in. I hope Brandon is representative of the majority (because that's missing some major history), but he might be. Remember that a lot of the world has the option to be clueless about big blatant pieces of our history. I think there are pros and cons to going to HBCUs. This is one.
@lared0tx8 жыл бұрын
missing history because you don't know the college?? do you know all the colleges. he is right though most people haven't heard about it. but what he is saying is that sometimes that doesn't matter. they want to know what you studied and what else you are bringing to the table. the only time a college name helps is if the boss went there.
@ness03888 жыл бұрын
lared0tx I'm familiar with a lot of schools and if you tell me the name of a major historical college, yeah I will likely know it. And if it's related to black history in America, yes I will because I don't think black history is an elective. Yes, not knowing Spellman is missing a piece of history. But again, lots of the US is in that boat and doesn't know major historical events. And if you read my first comment you'll see I agree that employers usually don't care where you went if the experience and the degree are legit.
@ness03888 жыл бұрын
lared0tx and I agree that it really only matters if there if some kind of networking advantage. Such as the boss went there.
@ness03888 жыл бұрын
I'm not arguing that point. I'm just pointing out that it's ironic that you don't know the school. It's not an unknown school. You just don't know it, largely because a lot of people in this country don't know black history. I'm making a separate point--because I feel like it.. An employer may or may not know your school. For the most part they won't be looking at the school at all. They won't look and say oooh I don't know that school. The will only care about your degree and resume. I'm agreeing with you--not sure how you're missing that--I'm pointing out that you don't know the school for a totally different reason.

My broke friends are definitely making fun of us for doing this. They can't even begin to fathom why we are so gazelle intense. It's like somewhere in the back of their minds they grasp that being debt free is undoubtedly a good thing, yet they can't (or don't want to) imagine living that way. Even after I try to explain to them the relief and peace of mind I feel now, I see their eyes glaze over, because they are completely uninterested. Well, I guess she who laughs last laughs loudest.

They don't think they can do it, crispsppletart. They think it's a gimmick of some kind like so many 'get rich quick' schemes are. But this isn't a scene. It's a lifestyle that we haven't been taught or talked about in my family. I came from the exact home Dave talks about; "Little man can't get ahead".....heard it all my life. No one expected me or my 3 siblings to be successful in anything. We were the 'just get by' family. No home owners. I own my home. I bought a house. Who knew??? I changed my family tree.... :-)

it is also described as a 'broken heart and a contrite spirit' crying out with all your might because of the sins that bind you. And in that anguish (and screaming "I've had it! No More!") a new creature begins to emerge. A creature born of Christ. He promises us "And because thou hast seen thy weakness thou shalt be made strong" Ether 12:37. Continuing..."And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them".
