Same! I used to work only one job part time. Had no interest in college I usually fall asleep during lectures anyways. But now I work two jobs, I’ve been budgeting, and on top of that I stated my own extra car detailing business on the side for extra money. It’s truly been a blessing finding Dave and I’m so grateful to have been lucky to find him at the age of 21. I already know if I keep this up, when I’m 31 I’m gonna look back and thank the 21 version of me for the sacrifices that I’m making.

The make up is so very much over priced. the salesgirls have a LOT of makeup on their faces, and some look really nice BUT....I'm not paying $24. for a tube of lipstick. I don't care how pretty a color it is. yikes!!!

I graduated last spring from high school. I am the only one of my friends who didn't go to college last fall. I don't understand much. But I Know debt is dumb. I am not going into debt for school. I will succeed. I will change my family tree. I am gonna be weird. Please keep me in your prayers :) Gods got me.

james64468 Yes I am! I am a assistant manager at a retail store. I have been promoted from a sales associate to shift manager to ASM. God has really blessed me with this job. I am full time roughly 35 hours a week. Hopefully I am going to be starting college classes online from home in the fall. I have Co workers who are living with grandparents and relatives trying to pay off thousands and thousands of dollars in student loans. I think God has me here (for now) Showing me the right path to go down. I've Learned The True Meaning Of Saving And Meeting goals. I have a reliable car and I am looking to the future! This debt free life style is working out great!

I got out of the military when I was 23, and began looking for my career in law enforcement as a police officer ...from 23, all the way to 31 I was told no no no no no eehhhh no.... nope, nope, nope, no no no no and after doing DOZENS of written and physically agility tests I FINALLY got hired at a big department making GOOD money..... now I’m saving for retirement along with building my retirement with my employer.....so I have two different retirement accounts.... I don’t and will never have a car payment, I will never buy a 72 inch TV, I will never live in a house thats over $1,100 a month.....I’m trying to make up for the 8 years I was struggling.....

I don't know how to thank you Dave. Though I live in Italy I'm following your teachings and the Bible teachings. Now we have 1 paid for home and one rental property (for which I insisted to pay cash) and we're living below our income and we're working on paying a stupid little debt we made before, but we're going gazelle intensity even if it is little, so we go back to baby step 2 asap. You made us change our attitude and behaviour, thank you so much.

Last year I was a senior in high school and got accepted to so many good colleges, one of which was my first choice, Spelman College. I found out Spelman was $40,000 since I wasn't going to get Financial Aid, so I ended up staying in my city and going to a local school paying off college monthly. All my friends and family think I'm stupid because the school I go to isn't a big name but Spelman is.
@ness0388
@ness0388 8 жыл бұрын
Brandon Dreher Spellman is a prestigious liberal arts women's HBCU. No offense but there's probably a reason you haven't heard of it. While where you went is not an indicator of success, saying no one has heard of Spellman is a tad ignorant. It is a top school nationwide and is #1 in Historically Black Colleges and Universities...in case you didn't know what HBCU meant. But Ashliegh, you know the world we live in. I hope Brandon is representative of the majority (because that's missing some major history), but he might be. Remember that a lot of the world has the option to be clueless about big blatant pieces of our history. I think there are pros and cons to going to HBCUs. This is one.
@lared0tx
@lared0tx 8 жыл бұрын
missing history because you don't know the college?? do you know all the colleges. he is right though most people haven't heard about it. but what he is saying is that sometimes that doesn't matter. they want to know what you studied and what else you are bringing to the table. the only time a college name helps is if the boss went there.
@ness0388
@ness0388 8 жыл бұрын
lared0tx I'm familiar with a lot of schools and if you tell me the name of a major historical college, yeah I will likely know it. And if it's related to black history in America, yes I will because I don't think black history is an elective. Yes, not knowing Spellman is missing a piece of history. But again, lots of the US is in that boat and doesn't know major historical events. And if you read my first comment you'll see I agree that employers usually don't care where you went if the experience and the degree are legit.
@ness0388
@ness0388 8 жыл бұрын
lared0tx and I agree that it really only matters if there if some kind of networking advantage. Such as the boss went there.
@ness0388
@ness0388 8 жыл бұрын
I'm not arguing that point. I'm just pointing out that it's ironic that you don't know the school. It's not an unknown school. You just don't know it, largely because a lot of people in this country don't know black history. I'm making a separate point--because I feel like it.. An employer may or may not know your school. For the most part they won't be looking at the school at all. They won't look and say oooh I don't know that school. The will only care about your degree and resume. I'm agreeing with you--not sure how you're missing that--I'm pointing out that you don't know the school for a totally different reason.

My broke friends are definitely making fun of us for doing this. They can't even begin to fathom why we are so gazelle intense. It's like somewhere in the back of their minds they grasp that being debt free is undoubtedly a good thing, yet they can't (or don't want to) imagine living that way. Even after I try to explain to them the relief and peace of mind I feel now, I see their eyes glaze over, because they are completely uninterested. Well, I guess she who laughs last laughs loudest.

They don't think they can do it, crispsppletart. They think it's a gimmick of some kind like so many 'get rich quick' schemes are. But this isn't a scene. It's a lifestyle that we haven't been taught or talked about in my family. I came from the exact home Dave talks about; "Little man can't get ahead".....heard it all my life. No one expected me or my 3 siblings to be successful in anything. We were the 'just get by' family. No home owners. I own my home. I bought a house. Who knew??? I changed my family tree.... :-)

I gave up on women and trying to impress people because of Dave. I make 3 side hustles work, and I tell family and friends I can't make functions because I'm working. Every penny goes to debt and I should be debt free next year. I had enough of what society tells me how to live. I pray alot, have accountability partners from my church, and eat homemade soup ( spend $40 weekly on food at most). I've saved 3 months emergency fund and no plans on stopping. I also joined a 24 hour gym where I work out at 3am daily. My father asked " are you ok?". I said never better.

I had his mindset during and after high school. Never had credit cards, no car payments. Yet I had no idea who Dave Ramsey was. Just started listening to him within the last few years when I changed my money habits to start attracting women. BAD IDEA. I now have a 5 digit debt and realized my old ways were indeed rational.

it is also described as a 'broken heart and a contrite spirit' crying out with all your might because of the sins that bind you. And in that anguish (and screaming "I've had it! No More!") a new creature begins to emerge. A creature born of Christ. He promises us "And because thou hast seen thy weakness thou shalt be made strong" Ether 12:37. Continuing..."And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them". Ether 12:27

winning is 4 parts behavior, 1 part knowledge, the pain of the crap you're in should therefore be an impetus/driving force to change your situation.
