I agree. He should definitely do more contests like that. Super cool to see them all. Bike people are the best.

yeah I'd like it to be a yearly build-off

I have saved the old badges from past projects and put them on a walking stick! Nice to remember the project while hiking.

hey that's a cool idea, I do have a few myself

Nice job on that the aluminum forsure looks nicer.

thanks Timothy

The laser aluminum badge looks nicer I think, but you might try to polish the old badge, that would look cooler IMHO. You might use a little bit of metal polish on a buffing wheel, no need to sanding, seems clean enough.
@BruceChastain2 жыл бұрын
think so? I was thinking it didn't have enough contrast. But yes I didn't even think of polishing the original one, that would look cool.

The wood would have been cool with wooden pizza box if you did wood front basket. With wire basket the raw aluminum looks rad

maybe I'll laser cut another one and try it out. I think I'll try to pre bend it maybe using water.

put the wood badge in a wet paper towel to get some moister in the wood before trying to bend

Oh I like that idea. Thank you.

Sorry that you didn't win man but damn the other contenders were super nice. My sense of aesthetics and everything just kinda line up with the trasher basher you've got. Also a very timely build video on your part since I'd finally found an old style huffy headtube badge for my bike (seriously, going with stickers? Do they cost that much for that added flair?) It's scary as hell looking so will probably get my older brother to do the tapping since better eyes and a steady hand. Keep going man. I wanna see what you do next. Oh and I'm probably gonna pick up one of those wald baskets purely for when I go get the mail. Yes I'm one of those people that will bike to the mailbox (it's a longish driveway but not that long.) It's silly it's dumb. Why not? :p

yeah there are some good builds in there, going forward and ones that didn't make it. As for mine, I think it wasn't flashy enough, but whatever it's want I wanted to do, and it's something I'll actually continue to use. About biking very short distances, actually I get that, it's fun to just get on the bike, feel the balance, the air, etc, even if just for a min or two.

Hy Bruce, now I’m here 😄 Question: are you a mechanic by profession? You have so many tools and you know how to use them. I love to buy these tools in Home Depot, no matter if I will most probably use them ten times in my future life 😂
@BruceChastain Жыл бұрын
haha I do that too, but no no I'm not a pro mechanic. My father was, but he's changed careers long ago.

Nice job, but why did you use such a large screw? Maybe a 2-56 would have been more suitable. Just my opinion however.
@BruceChastain Жыл бұрын
thanks! these were just the screws that came with the badge, but yeah maybe slightly larger would have been easier.

You mean in regards to the broken tap? If so, I really don’t think that’s the reason it broke.
