Changeling: the Lost - The True Fae (Lore)

Ask any changeling who they most fear and they will almost certainly say their Keeper. The ones who dragged them off, who tortured them, forced them into servitude and years of abuse.
The True Fae are the omnipotent rulers of Arcadia, the undisputed lords of Fae. Still, they are not organized in anything resembling a human society, conducting themselves in ways alien, yet still slightly familiar, to us.
In this final episode (for now) of Changeling: the Lost lore, I will be dissecting the Gentry, discuss what makes them tick, why they might be so fascinated with us, and how they manifest.

I always found the fact that the True Fae have no motivation or creative drive to be so interesting. Its almost like a cosmic joke in that they have complete control, kind of, of their surroundings and yet they don't do anything with it because they simply can't find a way to do it on their own due to a lack of creative drive.

Yeah I think it's also such a great analogy! They take these weak, frail humans and drain them of their energy and creative spark because despite how much mightier they are than us, it is our frailties that give us strength.

I personally find the True Fae as the most horrifying entities within the Chronicles of Darkness. Great video, can't wait for more Changeling lore vids.

My crackpot theory here. But I think the True Fae are Kith that fell into Bedlam and retreated into Arcadia since they lack a mortal shell. As to the whole, 'why do they torture us?' question. Glamour, Glamour can not only be acquired through reverie (muses inspiring artists), but glamour can also harvested using ravaging. Example of this would be to literally tie the victim to a chair and feed on their tears as you show them a film of their loved ones being tortured and rhymes with graped. This was a crackpot theory.

So how do Asian Changelings view The Fae? I get the feeling they view them as spirits/kami or yokai (kinda like what we see in Spirited Away and The Avatar: The Last Airbender/Legend Of Korra)

Thank you! There's some stuff in the works, for sure! I was planning on covering some Goblin Market stuff, potentially discuss freeholds, but I haven't had the time yet to sit down and work on it. Changeling the Lost has a complex setting which I feel is harder to put down on paper than, say, Vampire.

what is the last audio clip supposed to be? a fairy talking to their kids? Fay are scary, but to humans. to nature and animals they arent. Humans consider anything they dont comprehend or can learn about easily its considered a threat or scary. Most people consider the sound of a fay the opposite of creepy, and most do love art. They have a sweet tooth but it depends on the species. don't mess with the fay.

@@JavierBFV The Kiasyd are a Lasombra bloodline with Fae blood in them; How this happened is unknown since vampires are Banal creatures, they're dangerous to Fae and Changeling. Kiasyds are very reclusive and like to study; they usually have big libraries and can help other vampires if they trade them useful or rare knowledge. There's very little actually connecting the Kiasyd to the Changeling the Dreaming game. I don't even think they're mentioned in CtD. The White Wolf Wikia has a lot more info on them. :)
