changing 1.6 HDI injector seal

good idea to remove the rocker box cover, I did'nt. made the job that more difficult. I removed the No1 injector , replaced with recon unit. To stop the new washer seal from dropping off the new injector and possibly not being inserted correctly , I used some blue tack to hold it in place whilst inserting the injector , I also mounted the clamp and clamp bolt onto the injector when inserting it which made it soooo much easier to rebuild. thanks for the video.

Removing the rocker box cover makes it much easier, I like the blue tack idea 💡

Use long nose pliers to remove the wire clips BEFORE you remove the rocker cover. Also, use a suitable cork or rubber bung to protect the injector hole when cleaning. Good job, Thankyou

That's defiantly a EGR that has been Deleted. (turbo runs hot engine runs hot plastic components melt!)

Hello... I'm assuming that it's a PSA (DV6) 1.6 HDI engine in question. However, removing and cleaning the fuel injectors in these HDI models are quite straightforward, the only problem you might face is seized stubborn injectors due to burnt oil and fuel. Depressurising the fuel system I never of to do because HDI (High Pressure Direct Injection) engines operates under high pressure only when running. I have changed and clean quite a few of them without depressurising the fuel system and had no problems. Unless you're changing the fuel injector while the engine is still running then "That would be dangerous due to built up of high pressure" Fuel pump fuse, you can remove the fuse but CITROEN/PEUGEOT electronics are sensitive, what I normally do is disconnect the battery terminal.

Hi, I have a Peugeot 307, hdi SW 2006 diesel model. I'm trying to sort one of the injectors as the seals are gone and leaking. I've been informed I need to depressurise the fuel system before removing injector, otherwise can be very dangerous. How do I do this? I've checked on KZbin and it states you simply remove the fuel pump fuse. I've done this car still works and the system still has pressure. Please can you advise?

Why do you need to remove the rocker cover? Just asking before I start the job. Any bolts under?

Removing the rocker cover make it 50% easier when removing the injectors on these engines. The gasket was also worn so we reseal it with gasket sealant.

@@stoneyvill , can you still use the old gaskets and put small amount of silicone on top of it or a new gasket is way better?

@@mishutz A new gasket kit would be best, but if you don't have one at hand you can reuse the old gasket if it's in a fair condition. Applying a small amount of gasket sealant here and there should be ok... In this case I would clean and reseal the whole thing.

You will need it out of the way because unless you are really lucky the injectors will need a bit of prying out with a screwdriver or similar. Use a punch and tap the base (steel parts only) to try and tease them out. Watch as many videos on here as you need to get the job in your head first. It’s not the nicest job but it has to be done.

Hello... Thank you very much for checking out my video.... Oil around the injectors in these HDI models 1.4|1.6|2.0 are very common, but it's never a good sign I seen it all the time.... In your case it could be just a worn out rocker cover gasket which is a easy fix. Hi changed my seals i also open the injector i cleaned properly i fixet everything like it should be no parts was left out.but after i start the engine it stopet and dont want to start agane is any thing to do whith air on diesel bleeding anyone knows plz right right me

I’ve got a Volvo v70 that makes a pinging or ticking noise under load and seems to be worse when it’s warm any idea what it is? I had a quick look around the injectors and I can’t see any leaks or anything out of the ordinary. What could it be? Kind of sounds like pre ignition...

@@Alexander_l322 There’s a shear number of vehicles that used this engine for example Ford, Mazda, Citroen, Peugeot and a lot more. The pinging noise or rattling sound you heard could be a number of things, could cause by carbon built up in the combustion chamber, or overheating in some cases a air/fuel mixture fault... Did you have it scanned for any pending fault?

stoney vill I have a cheap scanner and no faults come up and it doesn’t have a temp gauge so it doesn’t help me to know if it’s getting hotter than usual. I’m in the queue at Halfords to pick up some wynns injector cleaner so I’ll stick that in it today and see how it goes. If it is carbon build up I think I can sort that out cheap enough but I’m worried it’s the HPFP or injectors on their way out but fingers crossed I can sort it on the cheap as I didn’t pay a lot of this car as a salvage cat S so I’m not looking to throw money at it unless I really really have too lol

hey mate, thanks beforehand for share the video... i'm writing you from Chile (my english is not the best lol)! ... i also did those inyector seals, but now when i try to start the engine it can't start... any idea? some people told me that some diesel engine needs to "purgue" the fuel pipes of the inyectors, because after a reparation some air could probably enter through it... but i dont know how to do ... if you know something about it, or have some idea about why the engine does not start :( hugs bro

Connect an extra battery to the car and keep on starting. It can take a few minutes before all air gets out of the fuel system but the engine will eventually start. Let the starter motor cool down every 15 seconds or so to prevent the starter motor from burning up.

If you're doing a video to help people do this job you should at least know what black death is, by which I mean the black carbon sludge deposit around the injector, not "melted rubber". Also stuff the rocker head with bluecroll like every mechanic everywhere, not "cling film" you're not wrapping your sarnies.

Its not plastic it’s old built up oil, but it looks like plastic and feels like plastic😎 this is one of the best Diesel engine ever made, it’s used by BMW, mini Ford, Mazda just to name a few.

ST_Nath Removing the Rocker cover make the job a bit easier when removing the injectors, on this engine. However in this case the rocker cover seal was due for replacement.
