Thanks, so much for posting this video. It saved me like $100 that the dealership wanted to charge for just labor, which felt like they're trying to rip me off cuz I'm a woman. I get they have to pay people and overhead, but it took me like 20 minutes with having no experience. These steps were super easy to follow. ☺️

That is one smoking hot R/T Classic! I used to work at a dealership that had a used 2014 model for sale at one point, and it was a goddess! Looked just like yours; black with red RT stripes.

Thank you SO much for posting this, it saved me tonight! My car died in the O’Reilley’s parking lot and their technician couldn’t find it. Once I watched your video I then crawled through the back seat into the trunk to pull the emergency release tag (bc the car was dead). Thank you!!

Angrybeaver Garage im sure your past the point of caring but.... There is this little metal nub that pops out “kinda” near your strut tower right behind your fuse box. That’s your negative charging post. The fuse box cover has a crappy molded in pic as a reference. Good video though, just had the same issue on mine!

Mine crapped out on my 2010 Challenger RT. I think its a mopar replacement that's under 2 yrs old too? Sucks that I had to wiggle my fat ass through the back seat into the trunk! I should have looked for those terminals under the hood. Good vid! Thanks, Jim

Battery is the safer assumption if you're having a funny start (kind of dragging), than anything else. You'll get 2-3 starts before it won't go AT ALL, so drive it into the garage and see if it wont take an overnite charge. If it won't start, or still drags, go right over and get a battery. Mechanics tell you to replace every 4 years. Bike batteries last maybe 2 or 3. My Challenger just died at 10 year w factory battery. My Mercury battery lasted...7 years. I go out and start them and drive them a bit. I don't drive as much in summer. I personally try to put a charge on them (instructions in other comment below) until they won't take a charge. A "trickle charger" is worthless in my world. Never prevented a dead battery for me.

after filming this I realized a factory recall for the alternator on my model and took it in to get replaced for free, also common for this car is a faulty door sensor that moves the window up and down after shutting the door which drains the battery

Did you have any problems losing or having to reset settings from the battery being disconnected?
@blackbeard0074

Yes you will, if you dont have a device running power through ur car. Its better to change the battery before it dies and when you do change it if you didnt already know get a device that plugs into ur ecu and keeps power in ur car while ur changing the battery. I believe scotty kilmer has a video on it.

Fast question the vented holes , I know we plug the arm back in but on the other side do we leave the other vent open or close it wit the cap. My original battery I notice have a cap in the other side . But the new one has a elbow and a cap

Angrybeaver Garage It's my favorite. That's why I got it. Just looks really cool. The red on black and shiny heritage wheels. It's awesome. Also I attempted to charge my existing battery but upon reconnecting it won't stop honking. Any idea why?

I love my challenger only thing missing a 6.2 supercharged hemi but life is full of compromises oh well. mine did the same thing I just pushed the RED panic button on my key 2 times and it should stop. If that doesn't work it should turn off automatically after a couple of minutes pass by.

ok, I'm irritated. The part I'm having TROUBLE WITH is the thing attached to the strap (which you didn't show or uninstall) and how the end piece of the strap comes off. I saw the metal piece at the bottom. I was hoping to go AROUND that and slide the new battery under. Probably want an anti-corrosive grease if you live in a snow/damp state...WD-40 would work, so battery terminals don't corrode. Even a bit of Vaseline would do it. I use Vaseline on my drum cymbals to stop corrosion and remove dirt, fingerprints and stick marks. Dumb question: Did you TRY to put a charge on it? Because my factory battery lasted 10 (2009 Chally R/T 340) years...and I've charged it from dead to full on a wired charger (NOT a jump start) a few times, at least. It's not my daily driver. You can do that in the car of you have a garage. Put the clamps on red to red, black to that bolt next to the battery, plug the charger into the wall, leave it in at 15amps and leave it 8-12 hours. Should do it if its going to take a charge at all. Unplug charger BEFORE you try to start it. But at 160.00 new battery; worth a shot to try. It should shut off by itself when it's done charging. A battery charger is about 100.00 but again, worth its weight in gold. Will also jump start and the 2 amps setting would work on a motorcycle. I frankly never saw a charge work off that smaller battery in front...only the big one in trunk. Maybe on a jump. Prefer to have a full charge if I'm out there freezing, anyway. :) And it's in the garage (and not the snow/rain car). Probably want to show that the slider on the fob is how the key comes out the top...? "Pop the hood," btw, not the trunk. :) Old bike habit (old Harley have WAY less clearance around battery) a rubber band and plastic bag around the negative wire contact. Then you don't have to worry about it sparking if it moves.

@luismontoya5973
@luismontoya5973 5 жыл бұрын
Its much safer actually, if you get into a crash you can still have power to open doors or windows, if its in the front the battery can get destroyed and start a fire and u cannot get out
@johnw4067

Battery in the trunk is very common on European vehicles. Batteries don't like high temps so in the trunk away from heat they do better. Also, weight is easier to distribute as most is under the hood. Putting the battery in the trunk helps even it out. A bonus is the battery stays clean...not all nasty and full of corrosion like under the hood.
