Curtis, I wish to pay you a compliment… I just clicked “do not recommend channel” for Non DIY HVAC… for one main reason: Ted is so disrespectful at times, talks smack about his PAYING CUSTOMERS and is generally too full of himself for my liking. You have massive skill and experience and you display NONE OF those DB qualities that Ted can’t seem to bring himself to stop. Nicely done work. Polite and a lack of egomania. From one tradesman (frame and finish carpenter) to another… WELL DONE. 👍🏼

I don't mind Ted C. and his attitude towards DIY, he's not posting videos for DIY'ers. But his info is still teachable to anyone who takes the time. Most HVAC distributors in Calif will not sell anything to DIY, refrigerant related or not. I'm retired/disabled and it took a while to connect with a distributor who will sell to me. If you want an arrogant D.B., it's Mikey Pipes. Curtis is educational and humble. He's in my top 5 YT'ers

@blh3741 I like Mikey Pipes videos, but I have noticed as of recent, that every business he merges with, or aquires, ends up with no employees, and the business partner, or previous owner ends up no longer working there. At first, I didn't think much about it, but after a few times, I think his problem lies in the mirror.

You know, its always hard to make the judgement call, but really the board could have been bad which leads to compressor to fail. Anyway, either way it gets a new board now. Nice job
@SpecialistOne7 ай бұрын
Customers really need to tell you that they had someone look at the condenser. That person may have disconnected the wires to do a ohm check and was careless to put them back on correctly. So, may be it was a bad board and a good compressor, but not knowing what went on before you, makes the job harder to diagnose and fix.

I had a Carrier mini split with similar issues. Compressor checked fine, but every time it was powered up, it blew the fuses in the disconnect. If unplugging the Compressor, it wouldn't blow the fuses. Carrier tech support argued with me that the Compressor, being DC voltage, shouldn't blow a fuse. After explaining to him that I had already replaced the board, he agreed I should replace the Compressor. I guess we'll see, when it arrives if I am right or not.

I looked in the manual at one of the popular midea clone units that use those gmcc compressors and the terminals didn’t seem to matter on the compressor because it’s 3 phased and same impedance on all terminals. And from what I understand the rotation on those doesn’t matter. But I am all for hooking the right wires to the right place! Might just come from the factory that way.

I guess my question would be, Why don't the manufactures put a screw-on fitting on the compressors, it would make it so much easier to replace a compressor. I installed an air conditioner in my '65 Mustang (all screw-on fittings) and 20 years later it was still working great so it can't be vibration issues. It would have been so much easier to replace the compressor with fittings and not have to solder it. Great video!
@houptee7 ай бұрын
Fittings cost more than a swaged brazed joint. They are making thousands of these units a week in China. They don't care about the technicians that have to work on them. These minis are basically throw away machines when they have major problems you can order the entire system with indoor unit online for under 1000 bucks. The off brands are even cheaper and they are made by Midea or Gree.
