Changing a Headlight Bulb on a 2008+ KLR650 (the backdoor way) PART 2

I was able to change the bulb fairly easily without removing the flat plastic piece above the front fender. Helpful if u need to change a bulb on the road.

removing the 4 fender bolts makes this even easier!

Thanks for the video I did not want to take the fairing off. I did drop the fender down to the wheel which gives more hand room around the light.

Yup changed without removing anything ... Low Beam turn Handlebars hard right and you can even get a pretty big hand up in there ... #1 remove Electrical connector. #2 remove rubber Weather boot . #3 trip wire bail holds bulb in ....In - Slightly Up - Out ... Reverse ...order Keep Fingers from touching glass of new Bulb ... Any oil from your fingers can shorten the Bulb life (These get extremely Hot) You can see on the front that the Bulb is set in all the way... Then get the Wire Bail back on , Up - In - Then Slightly Down for the Bail to clip . Then get your Rubber Boot back in place and Last the Electrical connector. Yup it can be done without any wrenches . Just did my Low Beam just now. No tools .

Good video I just switched out mine on same bike thinking my right blinker was out but I guess these bikes only use right while on high and left only on low. So wasted a hour of my life lol

AN IMPORTANT NOTE : NEVER TOUCH THE GLASS OF THE NEW BULB .... IF YOU THINK YOU TOUCHED IT ..CLEAN IT WITH KLEEX AND RUBBING ALCOHOL AND DRY ... TRY TO INSTALL AGAIN . ANY CONTAMINATION SHORTENS BULB LIFE DRAMATICALLY . THEY GET SO HOT ... ANY OIL EVEN FROM FINGER PRINT CHANGES HOW THE BULB EXSPANS CAUSES A HOT SPOT. SAFE RIDING !
