all those shavings might indicate incorrect oil spec - mine never look like that

Could be as I have no idea what was used before or when it was changed last we will see what happens when I change it again in the future.

Hi which oil spec are you using in your land cruiser?

I was wondering the same thing. The KZbin consensus is 75w-90, but you can see when he did a shot of the manual that the diffs are 80w-90 in cold climates and 90 SAE in warmer (go pause the video). The transfer and center diff call for 75w-90. I’m sure freq changes is more important but was always wondering why the difference. I’ve read a few folks also get weeping from seals with the thinner stuff

I did all my cases at 50k …gear oil was mint, did them again another 60k down the road….still mint…..I’ll be waiting another 75k miles to do them again….

Hey bro, love your content here! Btw is this going to be similar with the 80 series? I inherited my 80 from my parents and I dont think my dad remembers when the last time he did the same service you did here. Thanks man!

Aye thanks! Honestly I’m not sure about the 80s as I’m not as well versed in those, I’m sure there are slight differences but I’m not certain.

@@rywanders no worries bro! In love with these trucks. The more i learned about them the more im convinced these are made to lasts! These LCs are just built different. Truly blessed to own one.

Was there anything you were noticing that prompted you to want to change it?

When I changed out the diff lock sensor I noticed the oil was pretty dirty, but it also has 195k and I don’t know when it was changed last so I’m trying to do all preventative maintenance.
