Changing front brake pads on a 1998 ElectraGlide Classic

Today I changed the front brake Pads on my 1998 electric glide classic, everything went pretty smooth, I did shorten the video up so it wasn’t so long, it’s been a while since I changed my front brake pads, I will be checking them more often.

Here's a tip: Instead of using a screw driver to compress the plunger, take the cap off your master cyclender and siphon about half of the fluid out. Dont go below the brackline outlet though. Makes the job a whole lot easier.

use a c-clamp to compress the piston.....even easier

Did those front bolts sticking out the extra bit cause any issues? I was wondering what would happen when the pads wear again.

I've got a 2001 Dyna Wide....According to the manual it has the same calipers on the front and rear. My bike does not. The rear brake is the correct one for that year but, the front caliper looks pretty much like yours!! Since the bike is 23 years old and I bought it used, it seems likely someone changed calipers for whatever reason. I am trying to figure out if any of the pads in the video would fit? my front brake looks pretty much like yours but mine is chrome. If that is the only difference in the calipers I do not know. Asking because I would rather not go to Harley for something I could most likely do myself, as long as I know the parts have the right fitment

Just took a trip to check my front brake. It IS the same brake by the looks of it. Except the back of my caliper looks a bit different! I'm hoping the diameter is the same, but knowing H.D. I don't believe they made the same caliper, but different sizes? Although I could be wrong!!

did you ever notice that these pads were noisy when applied ? I took off harley brand pads, I couldn't hear them when applies. I put the same pads on as you did in this video and I can hear them clear as day when I apply the front brake. I have over a hundred miles breaking them in and haven't gotten quieter.

I could hear it for a few miles but then it went away

better lighting would have been an asset but by far the best video I have seen on this style caliper . I am still not sure if I need to use silicone lube on the pins like I would on a car slider pins. Over all great job thanks .
