It's not blues, it's progressive jazz. You are correct. That middle section where everyone separates into their own harmony and time, is just so beautiful to someone like me who loves modern jazz.

This is one of those tracks which is a grower I feel, against the more instant appeal of a lot of their stuff. I don't know who said it was bluesy, more progressive, yes, many of their earlier tracks were. It's so interesting and exciting watching someone, like yourself discovering what, Jinjer is about. They're no passengers in this band, they're all as equally talented, some bands are greater than the sum of their parts, but with Jinjer there is an embarrassment of riches.

I can promise you, you won't be disappointed, Jinjer is such a great band with many great tracks, if you liked this, you'll love their later stuff as I feel it's more accessible for more non Metal fans, as Jinjer incorporates many different musical styles into their music. For me they're one of the bands who have taken Metal into interesting and more diverse directions.

Yes, it's the album closer. Has some cool Tool vibes to boot IMO. I have all their CDs. I found Jinjer in '18. Have met them and seen them live a couple of times thus far. I'm a 50 + year old rock musician and Jinjer are my favorite band from this century. 🤘 💙💛

Absolutely. Bad Water is their bluesy number. This video was released AFTER King of Everything. Napalm wanted to rerelease Cloud Factory under their label after the success of KOE, so the band cut a video for Bad Water as a promo for the rerelease. When you listen to the next album, King of Everything, start with "Sit, Stay, Rollover". The difference between Cloud Factory Jinjer and current Jinjer is immediately startling. It's like a punch in the mouth. It's not only a massive headbanger and fight anthem, but it's also the song that got them signed to Napalm.

@@BraindeadBreakdown As you’ve done that and Pisces it’ll be interesting to see where you go next with King of Everything. My vote is I Speak Astronomy, as it’s a favourite of many. Just remember whenever you get to I Speak Astronomy , please for the love of god don’t stop the video before it actually ends. I saw a reactor do that once and the comment section was just a massive collective facepalm lol.

I'm sorry, that's wrong. The video was uploaded to KZbin in April 2015. I don't know when it was shot. Cloud Factory wasn't reissued by Napalm Records until 2018.

"Sit Stay Roll Over" was uploaded in October 2015 (although "Pisces" may have been the first single release from the album.) I would suggest that it was in fact "Bad Water" that got them signed to Napalm -- either before or after the video was shot.

I really love the live version of this song. This is more of slow build up Jinjer or shallow end Jinjer good for those who are skiddish around extreme vocals. The jazz influences in the song are great.

It's Tati's smokey nightclub vocals in this one that are bluesy, I'd say. There are a couple of other Jinjer songs where she sings clean throughout (& one of those features a rather tidy jazz guitar solo). (Off topic, ah, Federico, the main man behind Frozen Crown, his favourite guitarist is Gary Moore. Just mentioning that FYI, like...)

Jinjer has got more progressive as the years have passed and have moved further from their metal core roots. When Vlad came on board as the drummer and main composer (I use composer rather than songwriter deliberately), with his classical music background, the trend towards prog accelerated, to the point where the last Jinjer album, Wallflowers, is pretty much all through composed. A classical piece in 11 movements rather than a metal album with 11 tracks. The words that Tatiana uses to describe the band are “extreme” and “progressive”. Eugene has more recently added that Jinjer songs always have groove.

I feel like the Jinjer way of mixing genres is to take something softer and then layer in heaviness. The polar opposite is I Want It I'll Get It which is all growls and all Russian.

In the context of an entire album I feel Bad Water rounds out the experience nicely, and especially helps complete the entire compilation - of what, 51-ish stellar songs so far - plus various banger live renditions. By mixing in the mellow ones like this, and a few others, I don't need to listen to too much else. And one could argue that there might be overly heavy or aggressive parts to certain Jinjer tracks. It all balances perfectly.

I was afraid I might have been misleading by calling it bluesy, but I don't really know how else to describe it. To me, it has kind of a bluesy vibe, even though it's probably not what most people would think of as an actual blues rock song. Nevertheless, it's a bit of a different vibe for Jinjer, which is not out of the ordinary. As you'll continue to see as you continue this journey, this band is very diverse and full of surprises. The best part is all of them are good!

I really like this song. The official live video of this song is even better....you can appreciate what Vlad added to the table as a drummer. Vlad adds so much texture. I see most of your reactions are going from earlier to later. Glad to see you are digging the older stuff.....and the best is yet to come. Micro, Macro and Wallflowers are monster releases. But all in due time. Keep rocking and thanks 👍

You've not done I Speak Astronomy yet, have you? One of the most...epic songs they've done. With an equally epic video. On the Top is also brilliant. Not sure if they're from this album though. . whenever i hear this song, i often find myself thinking "k, i think i'd like to hear these guys do a cover of Black Velvet" 😅 (while i'm probably completely alone on this, i still stand by it). As much as i like this song, it's a sharp reminder of just how integral and necessary Tati's vocal change-ups are to this band's overall sound. ngl, while the recurring themes on this album are obvious, i hadn't before really given much thought to the construction of the album overall. but with you making it a point to discuss this song's placement on the album, it finally clicked that this is about as close to a "concept album" as you can get without actually calling it a "concept album". I must say -- really smart construction on their part. (though, to be fair, as much as they've talked about how much they love Gojira, it could simply have been a case of that that's just the general head-space Tati was in when she was writing for this one 🤷‍♂) Looking forward to the next one 🤘

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the album as a whole once you've had a chance to listen all the way through. It's my favorite, but I grew up on 80s and 90s punk and hardcore so I tend to lean towards less compressed production style like Bad Brains and Metallicas first 2 albums.

Not really a hooky song, more of a vibe. I mainly love the bass outro to this song. It’s a great finish to a great debut album. It’s the sort of song that Jinjer nerds hope to see them pull out live from time to time. Rather than Pisces for the casuals. lol. 6:45 Haha.
