That's not even as low as she can go, there are a few recordings of Retrospection and Who's Gonna Be the One where she goes so low you can barely hear her. This song is one of my favourites because of how structurally complex it is, especially as a drummer, this is really fun to play on the drums as it provides more of a challenge than just "how fast can you play blast beats???". On top of that this is an absolutely flawless performance. There are definitely some funky things going on with the time signatures and tempo in this song. Lucky for you I remember spending an hour+ doing a timing breakdown for someone else, so I searched through my YT comment history and found it and pasted below: -Intro, 1st growled section and first clean section is in 4/4 -Growled breakdown immediately following with "From the dark..." is in 6/8 -First clean section returns with same structure but different lyrics. Still 4/4, followed by growled breakdown in 6/8 again. -Single transitional bar of 3/8 -"Stillness stuns...": 4/4 (this might be the chorus because the lyrics repeat later.) There are 6 bars of 4/4,+ 1 bar of 2/4 then the tempo changes from 156bpm to 104bpm and it returns to 4/4. Because the tempo is reduced to exactly ⅔ of the original you could also argue that the tempo actually stays the same, but the time signature changes to 12/8 and all the notes become dotted, but I think a tempo change is a much cleaner description. -Major transition part (right after "never compromising): this part was really tricky to figure out because there's no regular beats to follow and the guitar is doing polyrhythms... It begins with a single bar of 4/4 at ⅔ tempo (104bpm), which is followed by a single bar of 7/4 at full tempo (156bpm). -This is the part that was really mind blowing for me: immediately after the transition it goes back to repeat the "chorus", the lyrics are the same, the melody is the same, yet somehow this time they play it entirely in 9/8 instead of 4/4. Somehow they sneak an extra 8th note in every bar without anyone noticing. I've been learning this song on the drums for a long time and I still never noticed until now that the choruses are played in different time signatures. It always felt like something was off, but I couldn't quite place it. -The chorus continues in 9/8 until she growls "for my soul". "For my" fills a single bar of 3/8, then starting with "soul" the song returns to 4/4 for the outro.

Wow! Thank you for that breakdown. This not only explains what the band is doing and is capable of but why I was so confused with this particular jinjer song lol. My musician instincts and ears knew some sorcery was going on I just couldn’t figure it out lol. Thank you 🙏

I prefer Jinjer's live performances over their studio versions any day of the week. You hit the nail on the head when you were saying how in the live performance it's more open sounding, her voice especially. I can't understand her growls in the recorded version near as good as live. You should check out "on the top" official video and live in Kiev. the difference is as mind blowing as this or even more so, lol. Great reaction 🤘🤘

The live version of On The Top actually made me like the song a lot more. But I think the official video still weirds me out a bit. lol And although I prefer the live version of Pit Of Consciousness too (including her fade out growl at the end), I still absolutely love the official video for it - in my opinion one of their best ones.

Glad you did this one and gave Roman some props, Jinjer fans love him and know he's great but the casual viewer doesn't appreciate his unique riffing talent cause their ALL about Tati'. AND SO Many extreme metal bands sound like straight Garbage Live, I've seen everyone from Obituary/Morbid Angel/Sepultura in the early 90's to Carnifex/Black Dahlia/White Chapel etc.. in the 2000's. Jinjer sounds Killer live, Sasha their sound engineer has been with them since the beginning and knows how to get the most sonically! I'd say do "Ape" official or if you want a homage to New York Hardcore "Words of Wisdom" official..

Fun reaction. So brutal. Their most recent release is Retrospection live in Melbourne which would make a great double-feature because the studio version is beautiful and one of their best - it's a hardcore metal song with baby pictures in the video, and how can you say no to that? ;) Cheers!

Go with some older stuff, where their instrumentation was more straight forward and less proggy, either "Outlander" uploaded by failure .color (it's studio audio dubbed over live footage), or with the official video of "Just Another" . The second one guarantees a crush moment (or more) on Tatiana, if that didn't happen yet.

Yes...FACT!!! Nuances created in live shows can make it break a performance. However, having said that, the live performances of Pit of Consciousness in Kiev is about as close as it comes to studio. Excelkent! They should have made their new live song album from the concert in Kiev which sounds much better than the Melbourne concert. Judge for yourself ... take the song "Retrispection" for example.
