I would like to be honest and write my experience watching King Bling so far, especially now with this video. I started watching KB from Rhythm Doctor. When I started, those were the only videos I would watch from him, and then ADOFAI next. There was a specific poll that King Bling ran, he asked if people watched him for him or if people watched him for specific games he played. After seeing and aswering that, that kind of woke me up enough to warm up to KB outside of my familiar games. I begun to watch almost every KB video, even those of games or topics I've never heard before. I begun to warm up to King Bling's content for King Bling, instead of just a specific game that he was playing. Nowadays, I am watching King Bling minutes after he uploads, and I enjoy his content! I cannot say whether or not every KB viewer is focused on a single game or genre. But now that I am watching KB just for KB, I find it very important that he enjoys what he does. So, please do what you enjoy doing, I wish that people will watch you for you, going forward. If you ever get doubts or discouragement, please remember that you still have viewers like me. Thanks for the channel update, by the way! Last thing, expanding your audience may be a bit trickier than solely relying on the KZbin algorithm. I am sure you know this already, but it might be worth your time to work with others, advertise in some places, or put your foot in some communities! If this is a career for you, marketing strategies may be important! It might help the channel growth!

Heya dude! I first found your channel because of Rhythm Doctor/ADOFAI, and I do see how your videos' performance rely on both communities at times. I do get your decision here, and honestly would be interested to watch you playing other games since your reactions just add so much more life to the video. i might be a rhythm game fan, but foremost i am a kingbling fan, i don’t comment a lot but i do watch most of your videos. i know like a year ago i commented on some music in the background from a different game, and you talked about how you didn’t want to be known as just a rhythm game youtuber. i totally get that, and you should be allowed to do what you think is fun. i know you’d be splitting your audience, but by doing what you love, eventually most of the viewers will be people who like watch you have fun. it’s a slower growth, but in time the fans will also be there for you when you do something different again, they’ll be there for you rather just as much as the content

There's a adage called Goodhart's Law which I really like - it states, "when a measure becomes a target, it ceases to be a good measure." IMHO I believe that subscriber and view counts are no exception. Sometimes, the right way to go about things means a temporary setback in metrics of progress. But, I think it's much more a matter of "building the right audience" than simply "building _an_ audience" - if you were optimising purely for that, there's hundreds of popular channels out there which pump out hot steaming rubbish on a daily basis. Even though it accumulates totals of dozens of millions of views, that's not content I think any creator can look at and be proud of. I definitely think you're making the right call here, and while you've lightly touched on the topic in the past (especially in the Q&A in the Discord server), I'm glad you've "bitten the bullet" now and have put out this video to finalise things. I find your content unique due to making playthroughs of basically any game, proven through making playthroughs of rhythm games. No worries about that, there are lots of games you could play with ur friends and do awesome content such as Lethal Company (would love to see it) while you also expand your gaming community into new people, get your channel to keep going even further and you will have fun playing anything you want! Even if you don't get as many views, it will be like as going back in time with your youtube channel, but you will have us to support you and the growing community with the various types of game categories. I don’t know if Kingbling will continue making content any time soon and knowing another content creator (Abraxos) who also didn’t upload or make videos for a very long time for almost an year I’d say that’s probably how long it’ll take for Kingbling too… but if you guys want to see ADOFAI videos with commentary or funny edits and really amazing custom levels and music, I’ve been trying to do what Kingbling did for his channel and making quite a few ADOFAI videos so maybe you can look at a certain someone else make videos of ADOFAI while you wait for Kingbling~

Then. i started looking at the rest of the games you played. then i watched other things and rediscovered your channel and videos and i love your editing, narration, the efforts you spend to make every single video as best and better than any other and such and i would love to see that on other genres of games like soulsbornes, metroidvanias, RPGs, Horror, Fps, Survival and such. and i'm surprised tou didnt get more subscribers and such. I am somebody who never comments on a video, but I have to here. I can give you a simple and a complicated explanation about why the stats are falling on the non-rhythm videos. ------ The short explanation is that in the other types of videos you don't promote them hard enough. I see this often with content creators but making varied content IS a type of killer for a channel. However, it is not impossible to reach out to those who play other types of games. For example, at the end of a rhythm game video, you could include a small highlight reel of an upcoming game you are playing on your channel. Put some of the best clips without spoiling the content of the video at the end. Yes, it is true that a lot of viewers will drop off near the end, but some people will love to see what you are working on and might even be interested in the game. You may even not need to do that in the future when your fanbase is hardened enough. ------ The long explanation is this: Viewers are transient. When people look for rhythm game style videos, they are hopping from creator to creator without a care in the world, because they know people don't play it often. With this in place, it's hard to maintain a lot of viewers because of the transient nature of the view itself. I personally have not clicked any of the horror game content because it's not in any of the circles I'm interested in. I have a subset of things that I look up every week, reactions to certain games, videos, I like to experience it with people. If you recognize the transient nature of it, including a few clips of a horror video, or some other video you like at the end of another will give people an opportunity to see what's good about the other content without infringing on this type of content, since it's at the end for only a few seconds. Viewer Retention percentage will only take a hit by less than a percent so that isn't something you have to worry about either, ZeRoyalViking does it for literally all of his videos. No effort is wasted when making youtube videos. None. You need to delete that mindset from your head because all numbers are positive so long as you get them. You can't post only 1 video about many games unless you already have the luxury of a hardened fanbase, so make a few, put some episodic content out. If you're not confident that your editing will carry a lot of views for a video, edit a video less and put more emphasis on a deluge of content. People will watch channels that put out more content. Take GassyMexican for example, I stopped watching him recently because he puts out less content, but when he was in his prime he put out 3, sometimes 4 videos a day and KZbin quickly rewarded him with hundreds of thousands of subscribers. Please don't think effort is wasted. There is no effort that will not yield results. The people who comment about another game on a new game video are the same people who will drop your channel at the drop of a hat once you stop putting out that type of content. Last but not least, your enjoyment is everything. In the end, if you don't enjoy putting out videos, putting out videos will go to the backburner for you. The key to success on KZbin is engagement with the content (not only the comments). I have been using KZbin since late 2007 and have not deviated from this site even once since then. I hope my advice carries at least some weight since the total times I've commented on a video is less than two hundred since I started here. 💗💗💗💗

I would definitely watch videos that have similar vibes to that game even if not in the same genre at all, but the last upload I would consider in that category (Celeste EP 4) was half a year ago. 3 years ago, one of your first mario maker videos were suggested to me and KingBling Troll Level were some of the most hilarious troll level out there for me. Then you brought out your My Little Nightmares series and I just loved your energy. Rhythm Doctor brought this energy out even more, it was like a friend who would take your hand to drag you to the dance floor and just party. I haven't commented for a long time and there are videos that I like more and less. But this is with every content creator, not everything will hit my nerve and I am okay with that. Some of my most favorite content creator also have some of the worst content inbetween that I just don't enjoy. But I am just one person with one opinion and if I don't like it, thousands of others will. I personally liked the horror games too, ironically I don't even like watching rhythm games that much, but for me it was always about the fun you brought to the game itself. Don't limit yourself to the expectations some people might have. I enjoyed your videos the most when you were fully engaged and just had fun playing it. I fully support the new approach, I even encourage it. I am subbed to KingBling, not to any Game itself. Being yourself is the best content I can imagen. I understand the struggle and the dilemma you're dealing with right now. It's fun to have some videos blow up and get lots of views but it sucks that almost immediately it becomes the only main type of content you're obligated to make. But we believe in you man, the only thing important is a person enjoying what they do in their life, and yeah, ignore the numbers, maybe someday, one day, you'll find the right place on KZbin. I do recommend branching into non gaming videos, like skits you've mentioned, especially invest in KZbin shorts. I honestly want to see your skits ideas. And also, I'd recommend being with trends, in this case, trendy games, like Lethal Company and Palworld, but obviously, IF you enjoy it. Also, try InfiniteCraft

I would love to see you changing up things, but I feel like you still can’t abandon your rhythm games on the channel. I like the idea of mixing things up while also keeping the original ADOFAI or rhythm doctor series. Things outside of gaming would also be cool. By the way, I’m not trying to rush you or anything, but ADOFAI has just came out with a new level. You should play it in the same episode as the last cursed levels. You should release these at your own pace, I would still enjoy other type of content as well but I feel like you should still go back to some rhythm gaming stuff because most people found you through ADOFAI or rhythm doctor

There's not a lot of people out there playing ADOFAI on KZbin, which is probably a big part of why everyone is going to you for content on it. Switching to a different type of content will most likely indeed turn some people off, but if you keep making content you know you'd wanna watch you'll always be able to gather a new audience that will be here for the content you're making! Hiya..! Now I feel kinda bad for leaving the comment in Rhythm Doctor 😭 .. I'm not really into horror and yea maybe as you said, my mind is like "Can't wait for KingBling's Rhythm Doctor", and if there's kind of rhythm games, that's the current seen 'focus' in this channel, but I really understand about how it really feels suck if you're feeling 'obligated' when it's not supposed to be. I also have a public twt account where I basically update for games translation. This may kinda sound different. I was too focused to being on time and to not being 'out of character', "because it's an account for public after all" "and being 'accurate' is the focus of this account". So it's similar with this 'rhythm game pov'. But eventually I let my passion to hype go, being excited as how I actually am and it made me feel so much better. Like yeah, I still need to do updates correctly, but if one can have other thing to be passionate about, it's important, I don't want that kind of feeling to die just because I have to obey 'my character'. I also have a time where I feel like talking with heart (I think like this vid, I was not as active then I tell like, I was having a moment to reflect and I don't want to keep pretending like I can do all my things alone, so it feels like releasing the expectations), and I think that's when I feel very satisfied, making my peace. Like I'll still do the best as 'the character', but if not, hey, this is the way that I take and it's an undeniable part of me. -- Back to this :CRI: so then I want to say, I may can't watch few types of your videos due to my specific interest, but I do want to see more from you! You've made my days in many cases although the genre is still kinda limited at the moment. I also watched DDLC actually and I like it! The Monika 2nd poem on Act 2 😭But for real, if you have more things to hype about in here, I'll support you. I LOVE ur rhythm game gameplay (cuz u have more funny act/skits,effects,ur humour and funny edit style of u) but i m gonna be honest,other type of games feels like less edited and more of a slow paced content (that just makes it a "another 1000th letsplayer playing this game") and horror games,i personally hate jumpscares,i get nightmares still cuz of them for a couple of weeks. And about view count/money,if ur not gonna make "this" type of games that most ppl enjoy here,most of us re not gonna watch it, (unfortunatenly,it s not only me,just look at the view count on rhythm games vs horror games last 6 month). I know what you're concern about. Feeling if you change the topic or game style at some points, you'll lose some of your viewers. But according to another KZbinr I'm watching has 100M+ subscriber said, you should have a main or cross topic for your channel to attract specific type of viewers to watch your channel. Having a style of your channel is important, however, if you want to keep this way while you're not interested in the topic you're doing right now, you should probably change the game or style you're focusing with. Viewers are smart. They know if you're interested in what you're doing. Most of the time when you have passion with the topic you're working on, you gain mental health and bring more viewers into your channel, vice versa. And of course, if you change topic, you lose some viewers, but also bringing some attracted eyes into your channel. If you wanna walk on this KZbinr path for long, better choose what you interested in. This is not "I don't care about my viewers in my previous stylish", it's opening a brand new route for your channel. Maybe just like Lucky said, this would be a path you never thought you could run on, so don't be afraid and follow your heart
