Well done. Very brave attempting that on the drive without a press.

🙏 thank you. I would like to get some storage/garage soon and invest in more things such as a press and lifts etc.
@N2699 ай бұрын
Well, I reckon you'd need a press that could fit the wheel (with tyre) and that's a wide press. Without tyre, my 20ton press fits a 17"rim easily, but with tyre on I'd need either the width of a 30 or 50 ton press.

Well done getting the bike mate . I always wanted one but just kept my Z750 for 12 years so far 😂

Thank you! I am thoroughly enjoying it. 12 years! That bike must have given you some great memories; you can’t get rid of that now 😁

Fair play and well done doing that job in the car park. One tip for driving bearings in is to use a drift or socket big enough to rest on the outer casing of the bearings rather than drifting them in by hitting the inner race
@MeadowUK9 ай бұрын
Hi 👋 Thank you for commenting and for the advice. It surprised me having the tip at first, as I purchased a proper bearing inserter. But so many have said the same thing. I will be doing it from the outer moving forwards. Someone else mentioned a threaded bar with washers on the end and pressing them in from the outer with a socket; which I will try. I appreciate the help, thanks again. 🙂

@MeadowUK yes the threaded bar trick works wonders and is less aggressive. I covered this technique a few years ago on my other KZbin channel when I was refitting roller bearings into the radius arm of my classic mini. I admire your efforts when working on the street to do your repairs and maintenance. That's exactly how I started but I'm fortunate enough that I have a garage now so that helps when things go wrong or take longer than expected All the best, Sean

Fantastic effort considering the lack of tools and resources - however - I am not a mechanic but have been told/taught never drive a bearing in using the centre race of the bearing - you have just put all that sideways impacts through the actual balls and races - you only drive against the outside race which is the piece that doesnt have to turn - you may have got away with it, just keep aneye on it. You can use the centre race to drive a bearing out providing you are not going to reuse them.

100%. Use a rubber/plastic hammer to get the bearing started then use a larger metal plate to drive (outer race) in square to the edge then use the old bearing to seat the new one - then getting the old bearing out can be tricky, but he does have the slide hammer puller. A little silicone spray on the cushions would have made fitting the sprocket carrier a little easier. Overall a good result considering the handicaps.

@user-hm9cn5bq3p - you, that’s really good to know! I appreciate the advice. I purchased the bearing insert tool and it fitted into the centre, but I will moving forward find a press and do them from the outside race 🙂

@N269 - thank you. Good to know for the future bearing change. I will be investing in more tools and hopefully space soon, all the advice is well received and noted 🙂

@@MeadowUK You don't need a press man . A length of threaded bar and some nuts and washers for a puller bar will do to fit most bearings , without all the hammering and risk of damage , and costs peanuts . Fit a socket or something to the outside race and just wind it in . Fair play for giving it a bash . I never had a garage neither lol .

Good video, just thought I'd mention,not really supposed to hit inside collar of bearing as its a floater, should hit outside race putting back in👍🙂

Hi. Thank you for the comment 🙂 Others have said the same, and it’s really good to know. It surprised me as I purchased the bearings inserter and they can only go onto the inside of the bearing. So to hear the advice is a shock. Thank you again

I found them on eBay. They are Schnitz racing cushions from mh products. £69 Oh, I’ve just googled the skylift. If and when I get a garage, I will certainly be getting one of these 🙂

what exhaust is on your bike.
@MeadowUK9 ай бұрын
I’m be been looking for some time as I like the look for a new one. Mine has slight dent. It’s a micron exhaust. Believe it was for the gen 2. But someone fitted the 4 in 1 down pipes on mine and put the single gen2 exhaust slip on…. I think. Found a pair on eBay when I searched for micron exhaust Suzuki hayabusa

@MeadowUK do you prefer 4into1 or 4 into 2 as Original on bike.
@MeadowUK9 ай бұрын
@@zzzpipI’m torn. I love the look of the 4 into 2, still do over the single. But.. the sound on a 4 into 1 is lovely. I don’t think you get that from the 4 into 2 even with after market cans.
