Awesome roof rack mate! Much better than your old one and way less weight!
@aerospacenews5 жыл бұрын
That weight savings is fantastic. I suspect handling as well as fuel economy will improve a bunch. Although that tire up top may have some impact due to its weight along with any aero drag. Does the tire attachment have a lock?
@ignitionoffroad50285 жыл бұрын
AeroSpaceNews.com No lock for the wheel attachment however that could be easily fixed with a chain and padlock. The spare on the roof is still a temporary solution until I build a custom rear bar with fuel and spare wheel holders

Looks good, but what happend to the back of the forester haha. Missing a taillight aswel..

Lloyd van der Made if you saw the previous video where I sealed some vents under the rear bar, I filmed the two videos at the same time so I had not put the forester back together at that stage

Hey man, what is the length and width of that rhino rack tray? Looks the perfect size for the forester 👍
@ignitionoffroad50282 жыл бұрын
About 1.1m x 1.5m. Definitely a good fit for the foz

Hey Malte, Smart move from moving from the heavy steel platform. Whilst the crossbars are individually rated to 60kg each, your rails are specified at 80kg by Subaru and Rhino-Rack. You can have a look at the user-manual in Section 8-11. Going beyond this is not only a risk of failure and inconvenience to you, but it's also a risk to other users of the road that are following behind you.

Grift Co. 100% agree and the reason why I changed the setup
@MiniLuv-19845 жыл бұрын
So you replaced the kings rack and rtt at around 100kg with 80kg of aluminium rack, spare wheel, jerry can and swag? Love your videos.
@ignitionoffroad50285 жыл бұрын
Benny Banger not quite, when I did the border track I had 60L on the roof which is an additional 60ish kg. That puts the setup weight to about 140kg on that trip where as the new setup with a 20L jerry can would put me about 60kg which is right on the weight limit

Are you going to get a light bar for the rack??
@ignitionoffroad50285 жыл бұрын
Brando Giles possibly, although I am fairly satisfied with the spotlights I am currently running

Where do you get most of your Subaru parts. I just picked up a 2000 model sf Forester
@ignitionoffroad50285 жыл бұрын
2 Stroke, Running and repair depends what part it is. My brother has a SG forester parts car I take parts from, otherwise directly through Subaru or online sellers like subieliftoz
@v262245 жыл бұрын
Ignition Offroad cool. Thanks. So for engine parts you would go genuine.
@ignitionoffroad50285 жыл бұрын
2 Stroke, Running and repair yes, generally OEM is best for engine parts

I would like a rooftop tent but the weight is just too much, I don't think most people consider the overall weight of all the stuff being put on a vehicle compared to how much power the vehicle has to move the weight. Less is more. I have a 2013 Crosstrek in the USA.
@ignitionoffroad50285 жыл бұрын
Brian Mansfield I definitely didn’t think about the weight at the start, but it is an important factor to think about. The fact is that Subaru’s are small, light vehicles so we have to design our setup in a similar way.
