Band of the Welsh Guards Lead 5 Company Scot's Guards from Wellington Barracks to Buckingham Palace.
On Return.....
Band of the Welsh Guards lead the Coldstream Guards back to Wellington Barracks from Buckingham Palace.
Band of the Coldstream Guards lead 5 Company Scot's Guards to St James's Palace from Buckingham Palace.
(NOTE: The Household Cavalry going past on the way back to St James's Palace after Coming from Horse Guards Parade, where they changed their Guard).

Not a military man at all, so can anyone with knowledge explain why two of the guards run forward from the rear and break formation as they leave the courtyard and appear to play catch up with the front rank? At 6.00 mins into the clip. Looks like their role is to protect the Colour, but looks strange to see Guards run and it’s not the first time I’ve seen it. Thanks in advance 😎

It is to Protect the Colours, in Windsor It is slightly different as they Protect the officer instead of the Colours. Hope that helps. 😀👍

@@militarybandsuk Yes I thought so, just seems odd seeing the Guards run to get into place and yes, I’ve seen clips of them doing the same thing in Windsor. Never seen it done at Buckingham Palace….. yet !! 😎
