I have a 2001 Buick lesabre and that manifold gasket sound is identical to my car's sound. The 3800 is a stellar engine. Still runs strong and doesn't burn oil. 185,000 miles.

the 3800 engines are great engines, I know a ton with almost 300,000 miles on them and still going strong

I have an 05 lacrosse got it at 72k 2 years ago, just now pushing 90k they’re definitely solid except last month my coolant elbows went, both of them started spewing coolant, upgraded to metal elbows and 👍🏾
@michaelhungate7506 Жыл бұрын
@@Omgkhii oh yeah, the coolant elbows. They had been replaced with the metal ones before I got the car. They always crack at the same place with the original plastic ones.
@Omgkhii Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I found out the hard way like most😂 cheap to fix it and you can very easily do it yourself instead of paying a shop to fix or misdiagnose it hope i make it to 300k now

This was very helpful, I have a ‘94 park Ave and wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing before I jacked it up

i had noticed the first couple oil changes i did on my 91 park ave, it didn't seem to like the synthetic oil i used, but it ran noticeably better after the third oil change. also, the trick you spoke of with the new filter, i was also taught that growing up helping my dad with fixing the family cars

Any oil consumption on this engine? Mine has 80k on it and uses a quart every 3000miles. Did the pcv valve and fixed the manifold gasket. Still using oil
@TattsForLife Жыл бұрын
I cant tell really if this car uses oil, it has the valve covers leaking and is missing a quart about ever oil change

@@michaelwright1602 Same Engine but later model. Could be anything different They used on the Engine build at General Motors. Different torch specs on the bearings or a thinner or thicker bearings. Will make it call for a different Weight of Oil.
