Changing out the Ignition Coils and spark plugs Ford Econoline e250 - Project Van

Changing out the Ignition Coils and spark plugs on my 1999 ford Econoline van v8. I did the front 4 one day and the back 4 the next day. I had to vacuum out dirt of 2 of the plug holes to be able to get the spark plugs out. I used an endoscope to be able to see why I was not able to remove the spark plug. The vacuum helped out a lot. It looked like I had 2 cylinders that we not firing correctly. The van was acting like the transmission was giving me problems but it is running great after changing the coil packs and plugs.

Great Video, THANKS! Helped me a LOT. Wow that's a knuckle-buster of a job, standing on a box up to your shoulders, the plugs are in the most awkward positions. Have plenty of different lengths and swivels extension ratchets to help find an angle to get on the nuts and plugs. Did the front first, the plugs are a mess, maybe original. That cleared all the codes, it's running great. Next we'll do the back when we can face it.

Thanks for the video... these danm coils are always going. Once one goes its only a matter of time before another goes. This idea of a coil pack for each piston is insane to say the least. Just pays to do them all at once.

I have a question for anyone that knows why so many of the ford econoline van;s coolant overflow bottle ( reservoir ) have the discolored brownish film inside of them.... I see this all the time and wonder for sure why.. I know there was a red / brown coolant used at one time.. but don;t know if that is the cause or not.. ? Thanks for the video I am about to do a plug and coil change this week on my E150 5.4L 2 V 1999 I changed one coil but have not done a full change out yet...

I have a loss of power and error codes saying 5 and 6 are mid firing. Will changing just the plugs fix this? Or do I have to get all the coils too?

I am not sure but if you are changing the plugs i would change both cause you have to move the coils to get to the plugs and it is not fun to do.

@@GrantTravels23 I definitely recommend changing both the pack and the plug. The pack could've ruined the plug or potentially vice versa. Best to just replace both.
