LowlySteward Ye sir, I bet it does, I need to do it on mine as well. Been putting it off.

When I do the factory chains on mine, I use a pair of Blot cutters. I have broken too many of those pins in the breaker kit trying to push them out. I've also seen people cut the chain with a cutting wheel. Glad to see yours came apart without a hitch. Just something you might want to keep in the back of your head.

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to comment on that haha... I very badly wanted to just cut the chain with a cut-off wheel but for the sake of the tutorial I thought it would be beneficial to show the chain tool usage.

LowlySteward Wasn't meant to be a knock. Just others might want to skip that process. Like I said I was happy to see yours come off with out a hitch. Last time I tried that I broke a friends tool. so I ended up buying him a new one.

+navythomas8 oh I didn't take it as a knock, It's all good :) those tools are spendy,bi would hate to break one but I have heard they break easy

Nice video...for the front sprocket, did you point the JT marks facing inward? It looks like you did...just confirming...I replaced mine but I wasn’t 100% sure which way to turn it

Maybe I missed it, but there's a process for loosening --and later replacing--the locking tab on the front (countershaft) sprocket.

breaking the nut loose on the drive sprocket is a pain. I had three guys and a pipe on a breaker bar and still could not get it loose. I ended up using a 1/2 impact on my bike. I don't recommend it buy it had to happen. Also I have seen two types of master links one requires a special tool to roll the mater link pin. no clip. nice video!

+Piston Slap Wow, I'm glad mine came off for me. That was like a 24" breaker bar I was using... anything shorter would not have done the trick as I put everything I had into it. I was tempted to buy an impact wrench but I couldn't bring myself to spend $80 to get this one bolt off lol

+LowlySteward Impact tools make your life easier. You would have found other reasons to use it, once you bought it, I'm sure! Breaker bars are so worth the investment. Was the bike in gear? That should prevent the front sprocket from turning. I actually just took mine off, but didn't have the chain on so that's how I did it. Came right off, no problem.

I think it was in gear actually but it wasn't supposed to be. It's not good to apply that much torque to the gearing so the manual states to leave it out of gear and hold the back break.

+LowlySteward I had my 636 in gear with a guy standing on the brake and a third guy balancing the bike while I used a 36" breaker bar with a cheater pipe. still wouldn't come loose. that's why I used a impact. The sad thing is that a impact hammers as it turns so I could damage bushings and such.

Make sure your.bike is in neutral before taking sprocket nut off. Very important step.

what causes the rear rotor to seperate from the hub on the wheel?
@IdahoDualSport7 жыл бұрын
It should just pull out once you have the tire off.

Hey! is noticeable side wear on the front sprocket ок? i have same wear on front sprocket and it bothers me. thx!
@IdahoDualSport6 жыл бұрын
Александр Харламов you should replace both sprockets and chain then. They are consumables like tires or brake pads

Idaho Dual Sport thx for reply, but i mean is not it sign of sprocket misallignment?
@IdahoDualSport6 жыл бұрын
I'd have to see a picture but I don't see how the front sprocket could be misalligned since it sits on splines and just has one bolt that holds it down. You could take it off and check it though.

If you attach the new chain to the old one you can feed it in easily ....use the old link. Hint .

Remove and clean and grease your 12mm Tension bolts ... the can rust inside the swing arm . One day you'll snap them off . Clean and grease them your already in there .
