Can't tell you how many times I've come back from the mechanics with oil dripping. That was the cleanest oil change.

Well done. I'm a retired mechanic and could tell that you're a seasoned wrench by the way you did that oil change, Stormy. (no oil on your gloves from either the filter or the drain plug, oiling the filter gasket, prefill filter, skilled drain plug escape moves, etc. ) ;) Thumbs up, and I'll check out your other vids.

Nice work i always have changed oil on my Volt while alongside the oil pan not from the front. Will try it your way. I have a skidplate installed so i actually will have to change the oil filter from the TOPSIDE now! Reaching down around the AC compressor from the topside it'll be a mess.

I see a video from you, I immediately give it a 👍. Always good stuff!

I'd have loved to see how you put that new filter with new oil in back onto the engine @1:59s. Mine is horizontally mounted too and there's no way to put that on without a lot of that new oil simply falling out.

I am looking at a 2013 volt for 9500 with 111k miles on it is that a good deal?
@carperdiem87542 жыл бұрын
So as a PHEV, how do you know when it is time to change it? Not all miles are with the engine running. Is there a light that comes on?
@Wrenchology2 жыл бұрын
There is an engine miles counter that equates to oil life percentage that will let me know when it's due! This also varies depending on how much you actually run the engine, when I'm only using electric I could go all year without needing to change it. This is also why it requires premium fuel to make it last longer in the tank if you go without running the engine for a long time. Hope this helps!

@@Wrenchology gotcha thanks. I have one of these in my fleet and havent changed the oil in iver a year. Was considering doing one, but wasnt sure if it would tell me. We usually do run it on battery only.
@Wrenchology2 жыл бұрын
Doesn't hurt but isn't required! I usually do one just to keep oil relatively fresh especially living in SoCal
