Thanks for the video. It's always nice to see K1200rs content. My 2000 is still going strong. Cheers!

Nice video bro. Enjoyed. The air filter change is probably more complicated to do. :)
@restorationvalve3 күн бұрын
@@RRRRefuelRideRace the air filter isn’t that bad, you just have to remove the side plastics and fuel tank to get to the air filter cover.

Just bought a 2002 k1200rs and want to put fresh oil and filter in it. Had to order the filter (K&N163). Haven't pulled the filter cover off yet, I hope I find a K&N under there, so much easier to remove.

Предворительно не стал масло в фильтр заливать перед его установкой пачему?

And if it has a stock filter? There's no hex/nut, and the universal filter wrench I got from Cycle Gear doesn't wrap around the filter fully for it to be usable.

Thankyou. I have a 04 Bmw k1200gt and just wanted to know where the dipstick was. I heard of the sight glass but nowhere on the internet is it shown besides this video. No diagrams nothin. I just wanted to know it existed or i had a defective part. Got the old gal for $1800 non-running, she's got all the bells and whistles, heated grips, heated seat, adjustable windscreen, there is like 30 buttons on this thing.

Should the filter cover gasket be changed?
@restorationvalve Жыл бұрын
I would recommend changing it, since you have removed the cover and the o ring only costs a few cents. If you see that the seal hasn’t turned into a hard like plastic and is still sticking above the alloy cap surface, then you can leave it and change it when you do the next oil change.

Hi, please, I've bought a BMW K 1200 RS 2005 96kw machine and I'm having a bit of trouble finding the service manual and I need to know what oils I need to replace. Could you advise me and specify and possibly supplement with a specific product? Some sources say that the same oil can be used for both the drive shaft and the gearbox, while others say otherwise. I'm confused about that. 1. Engine oil 2. Oil for the drive shaft 3. Oil for the gearbox Also, I have a few additional questions: 4. What coolant do you use? 5. Air filter 6. Brake fluid 7. Spark plugs Thanks a lot. BTW. thanks for the video!!!

Hi, As far as I know, you can easily get the service manual for these bikes in Google. Hard to give you specific products, because I don't know what's available in your region. You can also look up your bike in the Castrol oil selector. But here's the info from the manual 1. 10W40, API clasification SF, SG or SH I personally go with the Motul 7100, 3.75L with changing the oil filter 2. SEA 90 API class GL5 0.23L when changing the oil 3. Same oil as drive shaft 0.8L 4. The manual states to use long-life antifreeze and corrosion free from nitrides 5. You can order the OEM 13 71 1 464 916 filter or use an aftermarket equivalent, they all are good quality. Don't use a K&N filter if your not planning to clean it regularly 6. DOT 4, a 0.5L should be enough on the bike if you want to do a flush on the brake and clutch system 7. Spark plugs - BOSCH XR 7 LDC

Hmmmm,Should you not fill filter with oil before putting back?
@restorationvalve Жыл бұрын
You can fill it, but it’s not required by the service manual

I've got the same bike just a year older. Do you know if I could use 5w-40 or should I get 10w-40 instead?
@restorationvalve2 жыл бұрын
The servicing manual says 10w-40. If you live in a colder climate, then it would be better to go to a lower viscosity at cold starts, but these bikes don’t usually ride at those conditions.

My oil cap is different than that. Please help! Idk how to take it off
@restorationvalve Жыл бұрын
It's hard to help out without seeing the problem. Motorcycle oil caps usually are screw-on style, if you can't undo it with your hands, try using pliers that have a rag or a soft material wrapper around them to not scratch the cap.

Wasn't your clutch fluid a little low?

No, the level was roughly in the middle, which is plenty
