@@tonyireland1434 the high idle speed should be the cause of the carburetor and/or vacuum leak. Believe it just needs a cleaning and adjusted correctly.

Hey man nice bike and rebuild! Was wondering what went wrong with yours.. looking into buying one of these, one up for sale with about 50k km on the odo. Since yours has a little more im worried that this might be a too high milleage to buy it at? Some people say the engines last to well over 100k km, so I was wondering if your bike was a exception or not..because im not looking to rebuild it any time soon, I won't have time for that.

@@bve7397 I’m not the proud owner of this Dakar legend, I only had the pleasure of rebuilding the engine. On of the nuts, holding the sprocket came loose and let the balancer gear to jump timing and hit the crank rod. Overall the engine seemed in pretty good shape before this happen. Presume that the nut came loose because one of the previous owners had taken of the gears and not used new lock washers

@@restorationvalve I also haven't researched this yet, I just saw your nice video. Someone said that LT and RS have different compression ratios. Anyways, if this would work on the LT it would increase the fuel consumption, right? Would it increase low down torque, say in the 1500 to 3000 range?

It's probably a stupid question but you say the yellow relay tells the bike that larger tubes are fitted, but it looks like you are removing the relay in the video. Is the yellow relay removed to give 130bhp or do i need to buy one and add it to the bike?
@restorationvalve
@restorationvalve 2 ай бұрын
@@jayteezee it looks like a relay, but actually it’s just a jumper that connects two wires, there’s nothing in it. With it the ECU assumes that the bike has the smaller intakes for the 98hp, without it the bike ads more fuel for the bigger intakes.

So wait what did you do to fix dropping out of 2nd gear? 😂
@restorationvalve
@restorationvalve 2 ай бұрын
Replaced the 24351-14A10 gear because it had rounded-off edges and the fork 25211-37401 which had marks on it. When measuring them out, they barely were in spec. On normal riding the bike was fine, but under hard acceleration, at the end of the rpm range it popped out of the 2nd gear. Also, I replaced the thrust washers for the clutch basket, the nut on the end of the shaft was also loose.
