This is how you save some money as an owner operator. Knowing how to perform your own routine maintenance can save you thousands down the road. Watch as I perform an oil change on a C15 Caterpillar 6nz motor.

Congratulations on 100k subscribers. It's good to see someone working on there own truck, I would if the boss would allow me (all trucks in our company have a maintenance contract). I was always told when I was learning ; it's always best to prefill your filters. When changing oil filters, also put a little drop of oil on the seal. Keep up the good work and have many safe miles. Greetings from the Netherlands

Ive always done oil changes the same way prefill all filters besides collant your better then most TA techs 😂 that engine is a master piece with not one bit of oil or fuel or collant leaks anywhere that explains a lot about a driver/owner i do my pMs at 12-14 k miles
@presy_jay
@presy_jay 11 ай бұрын
Those TA tech are fresh out of high school. They can't touch my truck. That's my very last option. Only if I'm in a desperate situation. I normally change mine every 10k miles, but this particular oil change was a little over 12k. That's why I did it in CT. Couldn't wait until I got back to NC. I would have been well over. 🫡🫡

My guy! Good video, love seein it. Hearing you explain everything is great advice. Can you do a video explaining how you became an owner/operator and what you learned along the way? I retire from the Military soon, I’m heavily considering getting behind the wheel of a truck because I don’t have to necessarily work with anyone, and I don’t know how my adjustment into the “normal world and workforce” will be. It also seems pretty lucrative, and I want to seamlessly crossover without taking a major hit to my usual income. So I’m looking to get more insight from someone who is doing it and what you believe will be some of the hurdles I, and others who may be considering doing what you are may encounter.

@@presy_jay I've seen the argument and I'll never change my ways, lol. You're an inspiration to a younger generation my friend, the epitome of a real trucker. I did OTR for about 6 years when I first got my CDL, saved each paycheck and then bought a truck to go O/O for my uncle, hauling steel. Got out of that after my dad got cancer and I had to care for him, went to hauling aggregate in a day cab local now. I like being home every day now as I can take care of my older brother who's mentally challenged. I kept my 359 and use it for shows and hauling equipment on the side. 3406B with a bigger turbo and some fuel, making 595/1990 on the dyno with an 18 spd. Pulls a Cozad lowboy and a D-6 like it doesn't know it's there, lol! Stay safe and be well my friend! I'll keep watching and supporting you.

I think the reason you’re not supposed to add oil to the filter is when you dump it down the center that literally is the clean side so everything you dump in there is immediately going through the engine. If you get any particulates in it you’re fucked.
