Exactly the video I was looking for. My outdoor spigot was leaking at the anti-siphon location and I thought I'd have to replace the entire spigot ... cut old one out at solder point and then solder a new one to the main line. Thank you for sharing this expense-saving & time-saving video. No nonsense, just very concise and short .. exactly how these helpful videos should always be.

This was the video I needed. I went to ACE Hardware, the clerk sent me to a vacuum cleaner store, lol. I decided not to leave and just hung around looking in the plumbing aisle and finally found the right part. Thanks!

Thanks Boss!! Did what you said and BOOM done. Mine was just spraying/leaking, didn't need to replace anything. The rubber washer inside was off center. Thanks again!!!

Your video ws short, clear and just what I needed. Went right out, got the part and repair completed. Thanks for doing this for all of us non-plumbers!

Did you need to turn off the water supply?
@nopresetsnarklimit16753 жыл бұрын
@@Jennifer-eb8iw no need to turn off the main water supply, in fact, on is best: if you turn on your sillcock when the vacuum breaker valve is out it will flush put any debris that may actually be the cause of your vacuum breaker leak assuming seals are good.

Is there any way to just permanently close that top hole? I didn't use my outside faucet for like 4 years because it leaked from the top and I couldn't use it with a hose. I finally got it fixed and then never used it for another 2 years and when I went to use it, it was as leaky as it ever was because the heat out here in the desert destroyed it I guess.

Great video. This is probably a silly question but should the dust cap be as tight as you can go by hand, or left a bit loose? Does it matter either way…any benefit to keeping it loose? I noticed my original dust cap was a bit loose so I tightened it up but was wondering if that looseness was intention for some reason. Thanks.
@briancaine9130 Жыл бұрын
I’m not the expert but keep the dust cover just BARELYtight on the threads. Reason: If on too tight the underlying piece will come off with it which you likely want to avoid. I just replaced mine. Good luck.

To do this do you need to shut off the main water??

It seems I have a Mueller sillicock. Got a replacement from Home Depot and Amazon but the threads are like an eight of an inch too big. Can’t seem to find the correct replacement part. Thoughts?

thanks for the quick but well done video, I have a quick question for you, do i have to have a vacuum break on these valves, i picked up one from Canadian tire and it does not have vacuum breaker on it , what is the benefit of having this, is there any issue without this, please advise?
@RogerWakefield4 жыл бұрын
Without a vacuum breaker you face issues with backflow. A vacuum breaker does not allow that and is required on all hose connections in the US
@nadim1614 жыл бұрын
I've replaced it with a vacuum breaker, thanks Roger
