Changing Tunes: The Role of AI in Music Creation | SXSW 2024

Generative AI, and the models that fuel it, have the potential to redefine the creative process across countless mediums and industries. Where that potential truly takes flight is with AI custom modeling, which allows users to train these tools to output content far more in-line with their creative vision. As an artist, custom modeling empowers stakeholders to harness the capabilities of AI to revolutionize how music is created, distributed, and enjoyed. In this panel, BACARDÍ and BBDO show how they partnered with Boi-1da to support and uplift rising talent in the music industry using custom modeling to improve demo projects and finalize fully produced tracks in a shorter timeline, giving them access to award-winning talent and tools.

AI music generation is perfect for me. As a lyricist, AI can be Elton John to my Bernie Taupin. I am a newbie at AI music generation, I have used only suno ai so far, but it has created some very good sounding tracks from my lyrics. I assume all voices on suno ai are cleared and not something that would offend any particular artist working in the style. As a music producer, I have only two concerns: what comes out of the Left speaker and what comes out of the Right.

How is open source great for coding but not composing? It’s the exact same concept of making derivatives from the source without needing to license the source 😂. It’s a choice to be made for sure, but it’s exactly the same in terms of creativity, value, etc…barring a few different names for the copyright components 🤙🏽😎🖤
