You're required to place either silicone or plumber's putty under that ring inside the sink. you have no waterproof seal underneath that flange!

That's not true....you do not have to use plumbers putty

Plumbers putty would never be used on a pressurized line as incorrectly stated in this video. It is used to prevent non pressurized leaks in ww drains etc. So definitely needed

It's a gasket, not a ring. Why would you have to replace the body, they don't go bad. IF you changed 1 gasket at a time you would not need 2 people.
