In our pilot episode of "VICE Eats With...", we sat with reality TV star Chanmomo and discussed her current life as well as her blossoming art career. We visited "Uoken", where we spent the evening consuming some of the finest seafood in Tokyo, and sipping the sake-versoin of Beaujolais.

In my perspective, the star of the show here isn't that girl, but the chef himself. I respect the fact that he took a leap of faith to pursue something that he truly enjoyed doing for a living. In Japan, most office workers do not quit their jobs easily because it is difficult to find a job afterwards. To me, it seems that the chef really enjoys cooking and entertaining people as can be seen through his genuine smiles and laughter, I'm glad he's doing something he loves. The fact that the chef took a risk and went ahead and opened up his own place and managed to run it by himself is where the real story is. He is admirable and courageous to do such a thing, and I do hope he gets even more business after Vice posted this video.

かなり前の動画だけど、この子の気持ちわかる。 結局「なにがやりたいのかよくわからないけど早く自立したくて焦ってる」ッて感じでしょ。 特に自分が得意なこととか特別なにかできる、ってわけじゃないけど芸能の仕事したいからなにかしらにしがみついていたい、っていう。 この子のこの動画の話だけだと結局この子がどうなりたくてなにを信念に頑張りたいがまっっったく伝わってこないし。 とりあえず「できそう」な物に片っ端から手つけてるイメージしか伝わってこなかった。

Chanmomo and Yuka are cute lol. And props to that restaurant and the owner running it by himself and being skilled and knowledgeable with fish preparation and sake. The texture and flavor of the freshest fish really is awesome, that's why it's nice to have a fisherman friend or relative who'll bring fresh fish to your parties and prepare it well.

You can be too sure, that's why they test. They are not pulling fish out of the water that have been in the area of radiation release. They have very tight controls around all of that so you shouldn't worry. If the fish had high levels of anything it would be picked up and the media would have a field day. As for the teeth thing... Why are you picking on someones appearance?

bummaggots I didn't mean to "pick on appearances", the reason why I brought this up was because I have heard that crooked teeth are attractive there but I guess I was mistaken?...When I was in Japan, I never saw anyone with braces but people can surely afford it if they choose so because Japan is a developed nation and most people there have money. And you'd be surprised what TEPCO and the Japanese government haven't been telling the world let alone their own nation about the radiation leakage at Fukushima. Radiation has already showed up in the tap water in Tokyo and babies aren't advised to drink it. So the levels may not be fully severe but its there.
