Oh yeah I never heard of a video game until 89 when I was 8 and my brother (RIP) got our NES with Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt after seeing commercials and our new school friends talks and shown us the Nintendo games

Still dominates the world to this day with the Switch. Seems like every generation since has grown up with Nintendo in some way

Oh man, TWO AM&A's Xmas commercials from that year but neither was the one I wanted to see, which was to the tune of "Carol Of The Bells" that went "AM&A's, AM&A's...". In December 1989 they used to show that ad on Channel 4 in the mornings because I used to record something every weekday morning and watch it when I got home from school. Lots of good stuff there though, from one of the more memorable times in my life.

What was it that you recorded to watch after school?

Syndicated episodes of Kate & Allie, which ran weekday mornings on WIVB from (at least) fall 1989 through spring 1991.

Does anybody have the Taco Time (Seattle) commercial for Christmas in 1989? International Jewelers used it too. I wish I knew the name of the Christmas jingle!

Pay close attention to the difference between now and then and the pro family content. How did we slide into such mediochrity?
