WWOR stomped WPIX in the ratings. UPN stomped The WB in the ratings and was more of a real Warner Bros. network despite being Paramount. I'm reviving UPN and creating WB, a real Warner Bros. network! No "The" before "WB," no Tribune, no frog, no "dubba," "dubba," "dubba." No FUCKING "Friends" reruns.

The song is "It's for You" by Pat Metheny and Lyle Mays. This song has always sort of haunted me in a good way. I remember seeing this as kid and found it very tranquil.

No idiot, WWOR stomped WPIX in the ratings. So no. Most people remember this. Lame incels remember WPIX. If there are even people who remember it. UPN also stomped The WB in the ratings. UPN/Warner Bros./WB flagship. "Bey," "TNG," "DS9," "Downey Jr" stomped all of WPIX's crap.

I come here once a year to remember my father sometimes. He was dying and i remember us sitting on the couch watching this everyday with him at 9 a.m. as a young 8 year old kid in the summer. He knew he was dying and i knew he was dying. But we watch TV and loved the enchanting music of the community calender. I found the actual song (I won't say). But for some reason, its just better this way. Thank you.

Thank you for uploading this! It brings back so many pleasant childhood memories for me. I've thought about this commercial (more specially, it's music) for a very long time due to the impression it left on me. As a kid/teen, I would stop what ever I was doing as soon as I heard it because the music would catch my attention and just take me away. I grew up listening to the NY tri-state area smooth jazz station, CD101.9 and discovered the Pat Metheny Group. Many years later, I was looking through the Pat Metheny Group's tunes and discovered that Pat Metheny and his amazing musical partner, Lyle Mays composed (It's For You) the tune used in this community calender commercial. It blew my mind when I found the tune after not hearing it for so many years. I started to cry tears of joy. Thank you again.

I knew this was it before it was over just by my memories and seeing the bridge at dusk confirmed it. I wonder how many TV stations back in the day called segments like this community calendar. They used the term in my part of Canada.
@robjackson52454 ай бұрын
Obviously not WPIX because they were too smug and self-congradulatory about themselves. Typical Bob Menendez type crap. No wonder WWOR stomped them in the ratings. Warner Bros. has menace and cool to it. Tribune's attempt at remaking WB in its own image had no menace or culture. It's like watching a gangster movie but instead just caca culture rather than the old songs that made the Bugsy, Garduñas of Spain, Ljunggren. They didn't have the friendly warmth of UPN either. The WB came off like those smug shitstain "Friends"-watching "Seinfeld"-hating classmate you had in every Northern high school who thought they were better because they were part of the academic clubs in every high school, and had a smug air of superiority of themselves. A bad example but if you've ever seen Peck in "Ghostbusters" that's The WB right there. A shitty movie.

New York is the crown jewel market make no mistake - and WABC, WNBC and WNYW are testimony to that, not to mention all their networks (which all make excellent shows, ABC maybe have the most stuck up of the ones I mentioned, but still not as bad as CBS) to some decree, minus ABC, were the underdogs of networks, which is why Warren Littlefield thought it was OK to disrespect NBC in the 90s by making it a copy of CBS - and an Allied Nordicist Yankee "Friends"-watching "Seinfeld"-hating platate of shows - "Friends" being the number 1 (I mean that show was so unpopular it should have been on CBS). But northern NJ's stations and their city's of origin, have all dominated WPIX and WCBS in the ratings, the least popular stations in the City - WWOR of Secaucus, WNJU of Linden-Elizabeth and WXTV of Patterson. And WWOR was even international because they (as WOR-TV back before MCA bought them in 1986) aired Nuyorican and Italian programming, making them a nice hybrid of themselves, WNJU and WXTV.

Bob Menendez is the New Jersey that loves "Friends" is Allied Nordicist Yankee, hates "Seinfeld" and is unpopular and loves The WB and CBS. He's not popular and he tried to crush this station, when it stomped his favorite stations - WCBS and WPIX, in the ratings. WWOR is the New Jersey that's cool. Secaucus as a market stomped WPIX. And there's nothing New York about WPIX one bit. It's just a rehashing of equally shitty WGN in Chicago. The WB sucked balls and UPN stomped them in the ratings and UPN was more Warner Bros.ish.
